You might test Mif2Go. It has a feature to
"Wash via MIF" which works also on book files
and in demo mode. The description in the help
file is below.

well, we've almost finished our migration software-wise, now we need
to convert several hundreds documents to the new version.
instead of opening each and every file manually, being told that it's
a version 5 document, and agreeing to have it updated by clicking the
OK button in the dialog
Also .. FileTools has a "Force Open All Files in Book" command (just
open the book and click the menu item) ..
