Helen, I don't think we have the same problem because we do not install the
PDF maker component (and never have). Also, the rollback + the reported
message appear exactly one step before I'd expect the PDF Maker installation
routine.

I'm trying to install FrameMaker 8 on a development machine running Windows
2003 Server. On this machine we already have FrameMaker 7.0.
At the very end of the installation procedure (I had C:\Program
Files\Adobe\FrameMaker8 open and saw the files) just before it says that
everything is fine
I had this problem with the same version a couple of days ago on a pristine,
newly partitioned and formatted drive.?What worked for me was to set up a dummy
User Account and log in as that user, then install - and the only other account
was Administrator. (!)? This also fixed an identical prob

converting an .avi file in an anchored frame in FM8.2 to .pdf. But I do not

Did you turn anti-virus and other scanning software off?
Have you tried booting into safe mode and installing as Admin from there?
