Can not install FrameMaker 10.0.1 update
Dear all, I have tried to install the update to 10.0.1.402 by two methods, but in both cases I get the following message from the Adobe Application Manager: The following Updates were unable to install. If You wish to install these updates, please fix the problems below and retry: Adobe FrameMaker 10.0.1 Update Installation failed Method a) Download the zip, extract and execute AdobePatchInstaller.exe (extracted to the TEMP directory or any other) Method b) Help Updates... I'm reluctant to uninstall the current version Fm-10.0.0.388, because I do not know whether the beta bug is still active: hamper the installations of FM-7, FM-8 and FM-9. Any suggesttions? Re: How to delete a blank page
On 2011-07-12 05:47, Combs, Richard wrote: Brian Chan wrote: I use Format Page Layout Pagination and set the Before Saving Printing drop-down to delete an empty page in the Title page of a book. But when I regenerate the book, the blank page comes back. What is the proper way to delete a blank page? To elaborate a little on what Nadine said: A double-sided book necessarily (at least in the left-to-right languages) starts on a right-hand page because it's intended to have the binding on the left. So your title page is a right-hand page. In your book window, select the file _after_ the title page file and go to Format Page Layout Pagination. If its 1st Page Side is set to Right, well ... a right-hand page can't follow a right-hand page because every page in a double-sided book has a back -- the left-hand page. So FM adds that required left-hand page to your title page file as page 2. And the file after it starts on page 3. You can set the file after's 1st Page Side to Next Available, if you want, and FM will discard the 2nd page of the title file and start the file after on page 2 (a left-hand page). BTW, don't use the Read from File setting for files included in a book. It's better and less error-prone to set the pagination for all files in the book explicitly in the book window. One more thing: Right-click the file in the book window and choose Pagination. If the page that you can't delete is an empty last page of the document with an even page number, make sure that Before Saving Printing is set to Delete Empty Pages. -j -- Johan Anglemark, Technical Communicator Localization Manager. Re: Can not install FrameMaker 10.0.1 update - solved
Jeff, Windows will just be Windows with its stupid old letters for partitions. If you have, say 4 HDs partitioned into 6 partitiones each (not very practical) you have 24 partitions and each one needs a letter in Windows. Letters A: and B: are reserved for floppies (which not many are using today), so the first partition on the first drive gets the letter C: Then you need letters for one or two CD/DVD drives taking D: and E: if you have both. The USBs get the next ones usually, as they connect. So H: may not be that high up. Network drives go up to Z: But given the extreme example above, how would you go about assigning letters to network drives? ;-) Really, Windows should, IMNSHO, go away from the drive letters (and setting these for you automagically) as fast as possible and do what grown-ups do (like UNIX/Linux, etc). It makes things so much easier to be allowed to call the drives whatever you like. Sorry for the rant, but there are still a few stupid stone-age things with Windows, even if they have come a long way with most. I don't have Win7 and haven't given it much thought, so I don't know if there are any changes there in this area. AW: Conditional Text and Keyboard Shortcuts
Hi Alison, You can copy all conditions applied to a selected text with Edit | Copy Special |Conditional Text Settings. Then select the text to which you want to apply the conditions and just paste the clipboard content with CTRL + v. You can also paste this setting with Find/Change. Best regards Winfried Von: framers-bounces at lists.frameusers.com [mailto:framers-bounces at lists.frameusers.com] Im Auftrag von Alison Craig Gesendet: Dienstag, 12. Juli 2011 01:57 An: framers at lists.frameusers.com Betreff: Conditional Text and Keyboard Shortcuts FM 9 Version: 9.0p255 Unstructured OS: Windows 7, 64 bit (new, PITA PC) FM Experience: 2+years I've looked in the Adobe FM PDF and can't find the keyboard shortcuts I'm looking for... Is there a way to select multiple Condition tags and apply them in one step? And after you've selected and applied the set of multiple Condition tags once, is there a keyboard shortcut for "repeat Condition tags" (as "Esc jj" repeats the application of the last Paragraph tag)? I have had to add a new Condition to my books which requires me to conditionalize a lot of text (and table insets) that were not previously marked with any Conditions. Needless to say, having to apply the same five Conditions over and over is time consuming and beyond tedious. Can not install FrameMaker 10.0.1 update
Dear all, I have tried to install the update to 10.0.1.402 by two methods, but in both cases I get the following message from the Adobe Application Manager: The following Updates were unable to install. If You wish to install these updates, please fix the problems below and retry: Adobe FrameMaker 10.0.1 Update Installation failed Method a) Download the zip, extract and execute AdobePatchInstaller.exe (extracted to the TEMP directory or any other) Method b) Help > Updates... I'm reluctant to uninstall the current version Fm-10.0.0.388, because I do not know whether the beta bug is still active: hamper the installations of FM-7, FM-8 and FM-9. Any suggesttions? What me really annoys with the newer FM installations is this: You can not define a custom destiniation directory. Ctrl-click the text frame, right-click, and select Object Properties. In the Customize Text Frame dialog box, under Flow, is Autoconnect checked? If not, that's the problem. That option tells FM to automatically create additional pages as necessary to hold all the text in the flow. But don't just turn it on there. This option should be set on your master pages. If you're fairly new to FM and don't know about flows and master pages, and how they work to control the layout of your document, you'll need to spend some quality time with the manual, a third-party book on FM (any version, really; this stuff hasn't changed since the dawn of time), or at least the online help. :-) HTH! MediaWiki to FrameMaker?
Greetings! I wonder if anyone could advise on the curiously backward-sounding task of exporting content from MediaWiki to (unstructured) FrameMaker? Any ideas would be most welcome... A tool that would coax xml out of Mediawiki seems like a starting place, as I believe the rest of the journey could be covered with an XSL transform. Have yet to find such a tool, regrettably.
