What happened to text format of page numbering?
In FM 7.2 and earlier, one of the options for page numbering was Text. I see that in FM10, and seemingly FM9 too, this option is no longer available. This was a feature I used to some extent, and I wonder why it was deleted. Or is there any way around it to, e.g. get a blank in the TOC? Re: What happened to text format of page numbering?
Thanks for the info, Fred. They have added section and subsection numbering (greyed out in my present legacy 7.2 documents), which is a valuable improvement. Text is still available for Chapter but not for page numbers. I cannot find anything helpful about this in the help files. Guess I just have to do some changes in the document. Bodvar 2011/7/22 Fred Ridder docu...@hotmail.com FWIW, Text is still an option in FrameMaker 8.0p236. It's hard to imagine that Adobe made this capability go away, since that would break any kind of backwards compatibility. -FR -- Date: Fri, 22 Jul 2011 11:54:18 + Subject: What happened to text format of page numbering? Re: unable to position table footnote pgf
On 21/07/2011 7:36 PM, Matt Sullivan wrote: Hi Stuart, As John mentioned, your problem is that you have no frame named TableFootnote on the Reference Pages You’ll need to add a frame to the reference page to control that space… it doesn’t need to have content but I believe it’ll require a name of TableFootnote, as John mentioned. That should be the end of it, and you can resize that empty frame to space out your text. I believe John’s solution is 1 step farther than you need to go...in my experience, you’ll not need to apply a Frame Above to the Table Footnote paragraph tag. To do so would add the frame again in between multiparagraph footnotes. It sounds like one of 2 things happened: 1.Your template file began its life with FM 6 or so, before there was a TableFootnote frame on the Ref Pages 2.You accidentally deleted the TableFootnote frame on the Reference Pages Matt, John, thanks to you both. I am in the process of creating a new template, and in so doing am sticking to a particular naming convention. One way or another I ended up with a new or newly named tag for the table footnotes, and it did not have the Frame Above set to anything. Once you and the other listers pointed out the use of Frame Above, I was able to verify its presence in FM's default tag, and its absence in my new tag. Adding it to the definition and playing with the height of the frame on the ref. page has done the trick. OT: Follow-up to Does anyone have an old InDesign template folder?
Follow-up: Well, the reason I couldn't find anyplace on the entire Internet that had a copy of the old InDesign CS4 Template folder is because Adobe wouldn't release it. A footnote problem in PDF Bookmark and FM TOC
Hi All: Frame 9 running on XP. I have a section titled Basic Windows* Terminology where the * (asterisk) is a footnote. In the PDF bookmark, only Basic Windows appears. The asterisk and the word Terminology disappear. And in the TOC, the asterisk is missing. It only says Basic Windows Terminology. What is causing this problem? Can this be fixed? unable to position table footnote pgf
Stuart, You should be able to control the space above by adding a Frame Above Pgf on the Advanced tab of Para Designer. My templates include a TableFootnote option in the dropdown, but if that option is not already available you can build one on the Reference pages. jjj On 22/07/2011 3:00 AM, Stuart Rogers wrote: > TCS 2.0 FM 9.0p255 WinXP SP3 > > I'm trying to set up a table format in a new template. FM10 Para Designer shortcuts
Anyone know keyboard shortcuts that will home-in on particular tabs in the FrameMaker 10 Paragraph Designer? (I'm trying to setup macros to access particular fields, and FM10 isn't as cooperative as FM7.) Cheers Mark Lehmann
