Hi Brenda,Either your XML doesn't conform to your internally automated process, or you don't have a working Structured Application for your XML model. As Rick said, the line numbers referring to the XML file will give an indication of what's gone awry. more on Adobe hack
Not willing to take any chances, not only did I change my Adobe password after receiving Adobe's email, I cancelled the credit card that Adobe had on file for me. (What a pain!) Today I received a call from Skyp 661-748-0240. I've learned that this is a blanket number that Skyp uses for anyone calling without a specific caller ID. The well-spoken man had a British or Indian/Pakistan accent and simply asked me if he was speaking to Carol. I said I was Carol. He left the line. Although I receive lots of phishing calls, I've never had one from a Skyp caller before today. I'm left wondering if it has any relation to the Adobe hack. It is a bit scary that the man knew my name. I will not answer any incoming call from Skyp 661-748-024 from this point forward. Carol ** Carol J. ARRGH - why does the Import command still do this to me....?!?
Folks, Today I had something happen which has happened to me in the past... and I'm wondering if by moaning about it to the list, I can stop it ever ever happening again :) Basically, after tweaking a paragraph format in one of my chapters, I selected all the chapter files in my book, did File Import, making sure I selected the right Import From... file, and imported my tweaked paragraph format throughout the book... ...only to be heard wailing and gnashing my teeth moments later, when it turned out that loads of my *other* paragraph formats had now been over-written with ancient versions that I thought I'd fixed days ago! /sighs/ The thing is, I'm completely baffled as to how this happened. Earlier in the week, I'd carefully tweaked those formats, and imported them throughout the whole book.. but it seems they were still lurking in the chapter I tweaked today, and so now they're back! How can this be? I had all the chapter files open when I did the imports, I saved them all afterwards! I didn't see any error messages. This is by no means the first time this has happened to me over the years. Anyone have any suggestions as to the cause? I wondered if it was something to do with a format being in the catalogue, but not actually having any instances of itself in use on a body page... A related problem is with character formats that have certain fields set to As Is. I find that this doesn't work properly for Font Size. Say for example, I decide to tweak an existing character style in one chapter file, for instance to make hyperlinks blue... and I save it as a new style called Hyperlink. I have Font Size set to As Is (but the text I was editing was 8 point) . I insert that character style into the definition for a Cross Ref format, so all those cross refs are blue throughout my book .when I import these character Cross Ref styles throughout the book, Hyperlink doesn't come in as As Is, it is resolutely set to 8pt. Thus all my cross refs shrink to 8pt text. Arrrgh! I find the only way to avoid this is to create a new character style from scratch, without the cursor over any current text, and never touch the Font Size drop down, just leave it blank That way it really does work as As Is. Anyone else seen this behaviour? Solved Re: framemaker 10 cannot authenticate over internet
Turns out the problem is rubbish software design by Adobe. It cannot handle localisation and so I have to deceive the software into thinking it is in the US so that it authenticates, then return it back to the local time zone. Explained on this page: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-129-17-launch-creative.html Since the problem has only recently occurred, I am putting it down to it not being able to address changes occurring as a result of daylight saving. ARRGH - why does the Import command still do this to me....?!?
Folks, Today I had something happen which has happened to me in the past... and I'm wondering if by moaning about it to the list, I can stop it ever ever happening again :) Basically, after tweaking a paragraph format in one of my chapters, I selected all the chapter files in my book, did File > Import, making sure I selected the right "Import From..." file, and imported my tweaked paragraph format throughout the book... ...only to be heard wailing and gnashing my teeth moments later, when it turned out that loads of my *other* paragraph formats had now been over-written with ancient versions that I thought I'd fixed days ago! A related problem is with character formats that have certain fields set to "As Is". I find that this doesn't work properly for Font Size. Say for example, I decide to tweak an existing character style in one chapter file, for instance to make hyperlinks blue... and I save it as a new style called Hyperlink. I have Font Size set to "As Is" (but the text I was editing was 8 point) . I insert that character style into the definition for a Cross Ref format, so all those cross refs are blue throughout my book .when I import these character & Cross Ref styles throughout the book, Hyperlink doesn't come in as "As Is", it is resolutely set to 8pt. Thus all my cross refs shrink to 8pt text. Arrrgh! I find the only way to avoid this is to create a new character style from scratch, without the cursor over any current text, and never touch the Font Size drop down, just leave it blank That way it really does work as "As Is". Anyone else seen this behaviour? Structured FrameMaker 11 Error Console
The process works when I run it using FrameMaker 8 in a Win 7 environment. When I am attempt to run it using FrameMaker 11 in a Win 7 environment, I encounter these issues. I am also noticing that after flowing an xml file into FrameMaker and format and save it, if I close and then reopen the file in FrameMaker 11, I receive error messages, one indicating that validation of the xml file failed (See attached image named FrameMaker_error.PNG, and another indicating that it can't locate structured application DITA 1.2 (see image named FrameMaker_Colsole_error.PNG). I replaced the structured application file that came with the FrameMaker 11 with the structured application file that I am currently using with FrameMaker 8. I'm guessing that this is the issue. As Rick said, the line numbers referring to the XML file will give an indication of what's gone awry. At that point, you need to either modify the XML to fit the StructApp, or modify the StructApp to fit the XML. -Matt Matt R. I am using an internally automated process that imports an xml feed into a FrameMaker template and produces a formatted FrameMaker document. The FrameMaker 11 error console window that is displaying contains a long list of errors. This is my first time working with FrameMaker 11 and this error console window. I have attached a screen capture of the error console with the line numbering feature activated in the FrameMaker document. I'm noticing that the error console window indicates the line number where an error is occurring. I'm assuming that these line numbers correspond with the line numbers that can be made visible in the FrameMaker document by choosing the line numbering feature from the FrameMaker menu bar. Is this correct?
