RE: Problem with playing video clips in FM 12 document viewed in Adobe Reader 11
The standalone instance of FM has been known to not be very observant of the existence of the full Acrobat Pro version already installed - so if you don't turn that part off, the installer clobbers your full version with the headless one. Regarding round-tripping review PDFs - make sure that you are all patched up in FM - I think there were some issues with the first release of FM12. RE: Problem with playing video clips in FM 12 document viewed in Adobe Reader 11
More to the point, once you have installed the headless PDF distiller that comes with FrameMaker, trying to uninstall it is likely to clobber any installation of Acrobat Standard or Acrobat Pro because the uninstall script would be unaware of the existence of those tools and the fact that they depend on some of the same components that the FrameMaker installaller put on your system. It may be that if you try to uninstall the headless tool, you'll wind up having to reinstall Acrobat. This is why it is so important to opt out of the part of the FM installation that installs the headless distiller. It might be the case that the FrameMaker installer has been made more intelligent in recent versions of Frame so that it actually checks for an existing Acrobat installation (I'm still back on FM9 for several reasons si I don't know about newer installations...), but I wouldn't count on it. -Fred Ridder From: jeff.coatswo...@jonasclub.com To: framers@lists.frameusers.com Subject: RE: Problem with playing video clips in FM 12 document viewed in Adobe Reader 11 Date: Tue, 18 Nov 2014 14:22:31 + The standalone instance of FM has been known to not be very observant of the existence of the full Acrobat Pro version already installed – so if you don’t turn that part off, the installer clobbers your full version with the “headless” one. The installations screens do not make it obvious and many overlook the option. A while back, Arnis Gubins posted screenshots on where to look: https://forums.adobe.com/message/5927477#5927477 IT told me that there was no option to not install Distiller. The only options they saw were FM12 and ExtendScript ToolKit CC. Any ideas? ___ You are currently subscribed to framers as arch...@mail-archive.com. Re: Break link in graphics imported by reference in FM 12?
Finalizer, from SQUIDDS, has a module that does this called Imported Graphics http://www.finalyser.com/help/#page/Imported%2520graphic/imported_graphic.xml.1.1.html. Not sure how much it costs, though. I haven't used FM12 yet, but there might be ExtendScripts that will do what you want. Prior discussion on this list has suggested that Frame has issues with graphics that are located far away from it. It times out while trying to fetch the graphics. There may be a good solution to it, but after a rough couple of days, I don't remember what it might be. :( On Tue, Nov 18, 2014 at 2:08 PM, Studio Smalbro stu...@smalbro.dk wrote: I am running FrameMaker 12 and I have a lot of trouble with generating pdf files. Where does Frame get its template for a TOC when it's generated? It's always importing old multiple reference pages that have been long deleted from other chapters. The chapters always generate fine, and I constantly see this with the TOC. I use Frame 12, but have seen this problem in many versions.
