Re: [Framers] Unusual C-Acute Accent

2016-06-22 Thread Tino H. Haida
Hi Karen,

I checked with FM 2015 on PC:
The glyph palette shows more characters, that is true, but only
characters that really are part of the font have a correct wysiwyg
preview.
If you click on the "ć", a question mark is shown in the text, which is
the expected result.

As far as I can tell, you should "upgrade" the Helvetica font... It will
be a little bit more expensive, but it is the best way to have a
consistent design throughout all different languages.

Best regards -- Tino H. Haida, Berlin

Re: [Framers] Unusual C-Acute Accent

2016-06-22 Thread Tino H. Haida
Hi Karen,

the Std-font contains only the standard latin (western) characters.

You would need the Pro-version of this Helvetica font (=latin extended,
with Central European characters) oder the WGL4 font (includes also
Baltic, Greek and Cyrillic characters).

Pls refer to the website of a font vendor like Linotype.

Re: [Framers] Table Title gets dropped on save as xml

2017-02-15 Thread Tino H. Haida
Hi Rick,

maybe FM sees "caption" as a reserved element name.
What happens if you try with a slightly different name?

Why don't you use simply "Title" for the table title (which FM
interprets as table title directly without r/w rule).

Re: [Framers] Windows XP versus Windows Explorer (Ding!)

2016-11-16 Thread Tino H. Haida
... Yes, this is weird.

Win 7 locks folders when you work with them in certain applications
(Acrobat, FrameMaker), but also with the normal Win Explorer.
The Explorer puts an invisible "thumbs.db" file into folders that have
been opened and keeps them locked.

See https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2025703

This problem did not occur with WIN XP (as far as I remember). But if
other colleagues are also working with the same files this may be the
reason. Or maybe the server OS keeps the files locked.

Re: [Framers] TOC Issues in FM 11

2017-08-22 Thread Tino H. Haida
Hi Ed,

Is there a frame inserted below the paragraph (Advanced settings)?

Typically this frame should contain a line as object to produce an
underline in the layout.
(The frame is defined on the Reference pages.)
If this successfully applies to all chapters, the definition on the TOC
page should be checked. You may keep (and resize) or delete the frame
resp. change the paragraph setting.

If this is not the scenario in your case, I do not know...

Re: [Framers] Read-write rules for graphics

2019-09-10 Thread Tino H. Haida
Hello Roger,

we use a setting where (almost) all elements are controlled by
FrameMaker:

element "Graphic" {
  is fm graphic element;
}

element "I.Graphic" {
  is fm graphic element;
  attribute "file" is fm property file;
 }

This works very well, here an example for the XML output/input of a
Graphic element:

-

I do not see an error in your definitions. But you are adding many
definitions that may be redundant -- as you can see, "align", "height",
"position" and "width" do not need a special treatment.
Maybe you should start anew with the smallest possible, working setting
-- just trying to find out, what FrameMaker does in the import/export
and then adjusting it step by step.

Hi Doug,

you would use the Code converter by Richard Ishida to find out exactly
