I have seen this with earlier versions of FM, and it is not FMs fault, but Microsofts.
With Windows 7, they changed how handshaking is done between computers.

This may be a silly question, but what happens if you change the locale setting
for your computer to Ireland?
As for the other, may I suggest that you use a variable for the separator, and
remember that you may need to add another to deal with 999.99.

The only problem with that is that if they are less than 24-bit, FM adds

One possiblity is to set the printer to BW when you print the
hardcopy version.
Another (and what I do) is let my Printing company do the conversion
from a color PDF.

I'm coming in on the tail end of this, but one thing I use is
non-breaking spaces to clump words together.
That forces line breaks to occurr only at normal spaces. (I use this
in my indexes as well, where needed)
