RE: Workspaces
From Syed list it looks like they are not really scattered around, but are placed in some fairly logical subdirectories. More .fws files exist when you use the different modes and add more customized workspaces. I get a similar list when I search on .fws through Windows 7 on the laptop I'm using right now. All my FM10 .fws files are directly inside the C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\AdobeFrameMaker10\fminit\WorkSpaces in either of these folders: Structured Unstructured I think it took me a while to realize that was why I lost customizations when I moved to using always FM in structured mode, whether I was working with structured files or unstructured files. (The extra menu choices don't bother me at all when working in unstructured documents). RE: Workspaces -
Many user specific customizations take place in the users area you have found. It's the only way to keep track of who wants what when you have separate users with access to FrameMaker on a single machine. For instance, a copy of structapps.fm will also be found under C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\FrameMaker\12\... somewhere (with NAME being your username, and 12 being 11, or 10 also). There are a number of folders there which contain copies of the standard files until they are modified when the given USER makes a customization. This is something savvy FM users need to be aware of. This location allows (for me at least with my work installation of FM12) to make customizations that don't require the IT guys to make them for me (which changing the files in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\AdobeFrameMaker10 or 11 or 12 would require). Theresa, I know about FM 9 and 10. I haven't upgraded to 12, but these files were stored in the same place for 9 and 10, so I am assuming that it has stayed the same for 12. Workspaces in FrameMaker 10 are saved in the FrameMaker installation folder in fminit\WorkSpaces\UnStructured (or Structured). Each workspace file is an XML file with a .fws extension. And for upgrades: You could copy them from your current FrameMaker folder to the new (upgraded) FrameMaker folder, for example, from 9 to 10. I would backup the FrameMaker 10 .fws files first, just in case. -Original Message- From: framers-boun...@lists.frameusers.com [mailto:framers-boun...@lists.frameusers.com] On Behalf Of Theresa de Valence Sent: Thursday, October 30, 2014 7:48 AM To: framers@lists.frameusers.com Subject: Workspaces Could someone please tell me where the saved custom workspace files (.fws) are located?
