FrameMaker Chapter TOC problem

2014-02-05 Thread Shmuel Wolfson
I have local TOCs at the beginning of several chapters in a book. They
are inserted as text insets. For some reason, in one of the chapters the
TOC is not hyperlinked at all. All of the other ones are hyperlinked.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
Is it a bug?

Are there cross-references in the misbehaving inset? Cross-references in
text insets may be updated correctly, but are not converted to PDF links.

RE: FrameMaker Chapter TOC problem - solution

Shlomo Perets gave the solution for this. I did not have Create
Hypertext Links turned ON (in the Set Up Table of Contents dialog box)
when creating the TOC for the chapter.

Hi Shmuel,

Based on what I see now in your real TOC, I think it is simply an
issue of having Create Hypertext Links turned OFF (in the Set Up Table
of Contents dialog box) when creating the TOC for the specific chapter
(because there are no hypertext markers in the source TOC).

Shlomo

FrameMaker TOC Problem - resolved

2009-08-18 Thread Shmuel Wolfson
It seems that the problem with the page numbering in the TOC was that
one paragraph was shifting to the next page when I updated the TOC, but
it was not shifting to the next page in the PDF. I haven't quite figured
out how that could have happened, but I solved the problem for now buy
reducing some of the spacing to make sure that the paragraph does not
shift to the next page.

I still haven't resolved the second issue, but I'm not that concerned
about that problem since I can just reinsert the LOF.

I'm having two problems with a TOC (using Frame 9 p237).

1. The page numbers for a lot of the TOC entries are wrong. When I click
on the links they go to the right pages, but not the pages listed in the
TOC. It starts in the middle of one of the chapters - the page numbers
in the TOC is one page later than the actual page. This is really weird.
I haven't seen this type of problem yet in Frame. I don't see any
problem in the file at the point where the problem starts. Could the
file be corrupt?

2. I inserted a LOF as a text inset at the end of the TOC. When I update
the book, the LOF jumps to the front of the TOC and instead tern into
plain text instead of a text inset.

Any ideas?

The links in the ToC itself to the chapter title and subheadings. All
generated links in the ToC except for this one file work.

The file did contain text insets, but they were converted to normal
text, and the broken links still happened.

We also deleted the first xref marker in the file, on the heading, to
try and force new links to be created. Still broken.

Re: TOC problem

2007-05-24 Thread Miriam Lezak
I've managed to add the page manually and have it regenerate properly --
though this only works when I know I've got an odd-paged TOC.

I add two paragraphs at the end of the TOC -- one that bumps to the top of
the page, and a second that has my Intentionally left blank text (about
250 points down the page). Then regenerate.

This usually takes -- I have occasionally had to do it twice (every so it
moves to the top of the TOC -- not pretty!)

Surbhi,

I've never done this specific task, but try the following:

1. Add a blank paragraph to another file. Give the format a unique
name and don't use it anywhere else in the book.
2. When you generate the TOC for the first time, include this format.
3. In the TOC's Reference page, define the paragraph's format with a
page break, and add the string, this page has been intentionally left
blank. You may have to play around with the properties to get the
line to appear as you wish.
4. Update the book again.

David

TOC problem

2007-05-24 Thread Surbhi Singhal
Hello Framers

I need to keep the number of pages in my TOC Even. If the generated TOC has
the content for 3 pages, i have to manually format the last blank page for
the message : "this page has been intentionally left blank".

Is it possible to define if TOC could take up this paragraph format
automatically?

Thanx for your help.

Regards
Surbhi

TOC problem

Surbhi,

I've never done this specific task, but try the following:

1. Add a blank paragraph to another file. Give the format a unique
name and don't use it anywhere else in the book.
2. When you generate the TOC for the first time, include this format.
3. In the TOC's Reference page, define the paragraph's format with a
page break, and add the string, "this page has been intentionally left
blank". You may have to play around with the properties to get the
line to appear as you wish.
4. Update the book again.

David

TOC problem

2007-05-24 Thread Miriam Lezak
I've managed to add the page manually and have it regenerate properly --
though this only works when I know I've got an odd-paged TOC.

I add two paragraphs at the end of the TOC -- one that bumps to the top of
the page, and a second that has my "Intentionally left blank" text (about
250 points down the page). Then regenerate.

This usually takes -- I have occasionally had to do it twice (every so it
moves to the top of the TOC -- not pretty!)
