Here's one for $70:

They claim the copy was never registered at Adobe.

FWIW, I 'upgraded' from FrameMaker 6 to FrameMaker 7 for Mac years ago using a
new unregistered upgrade copy obtained from eBay. It never gave me any problems.
But I see that the title of this thread is 'used copies', and I guess that
point has been well answered already.

I am converting a two column word document into FrameMaker. The size and format
must remain the same. Is there a way to add something like section breaks
(continuous) in a FrameMaker document? I need to wrap a column previous to a
table that spans both columns. Then I will continue using the le
That's true, but I didn't say it.
FrameMaker 8 added Unicode support, which was a pretty radical change
as regards fonts.
FrameMaker 9 introduced the bad UI layer and lots of bugs that have
never been fixed.

Good afternoon, guys..
I have a book that uses the variable "Running H/F 1" in my footer that
picks up Chapter Title.
The hierarchy is Chapter Title, Heading 1, Heading 2, etc,.
The problem is, for the sections that follow Chapter Title that start with
Heading 1, the variable displays blank.

Can you copy & paste the code you have in your variable and send it to the

Nothing complicated about it:

I don't think the issue is the composition of the variable...it works fine
when the page has a paragraph tag Chapter Title. The issue is when the
para text doesn't appear in the FM file, but does in a previous file that I

OK, that was about what I thought.
The short answer is, you can't do it with a RunningH/F, as it only picks up
the information in the CURRENT file.
If you want to bring the Chapter title over from a previous file, you'll
have to edit the master page to use a cross-reference back to the file with
Hi John,
You can only do this "carry over" from another document with structured
FrameMaker. It doesn't work with unstructured FrameMaker.

Not really...I want the variable to pull the text marked by the Para text
the most recent time prior to its use.
Example:
Page 1 starts with Chapter Title "Title 1"
Pages 2-10 start with various "Heading 1"s
Page 11 starts with Chapter Title "Title 2"
Pages 11-20 start with various "Heading 1"s
P
Do you have some compelling reason to split chapters between files?

Hi Rebecca,
Frame has no section breaks. Instead you can use a paragraph format that spans
both columns to 'break' the page (use the pagination tab of the paragraph
designer and set the paragraph to be 'across all columns'). Columns will reflow
above and start below again.
Use that paragraph t
