What do they hope to accomplish by doing that? The only sane reason I know would be that you deliver only as PDF and/or print and want to be able to tweak it to get more visually distinctive results than you get with FrameMaker. There's a service that will do the conversion:

I'm certain you could do this with a regular expression on exported MIF. Search for strings that begin with # end of Para, and contain the phrase in question, and in those strings replace with . ___ This message is from the Framers

[Framers] FrameMaker vs InDesign

My company has informed me that they’d like to switch one of our major publications over from FrameMaker to InDesign. If conversion is not an option, they wouldn’t be opposed to rebuilding the entire publication from scratch as an InDesign document. Has anyone gone through this process before?

My method assumes that you want to change the paratag that is being used on a particular phrase. The simplest instance of that is when that phrase is the only content in the paragraph. However, this works on paras that have other text as well, but only if they use the paratag you want to
