Actually, I am generating bot documents. However, I'm now linking to PDFs that I created 1-3 years ago, before I was considering the need to link to them. However, I think I'm OK...the PDFs to which I'm linking by page numbers are not moving, changing pagination, being edited, or renamed, so they

I have used a reliable method for cross-deliverable linking in PDF using Hypertext markers. One set of markers defines the named destinations, using "newlink XXX". With this method, I set the markers to have names I can figure out without resorting to investigating tons of destinations in

Make the window small, zoom in, and set the page display to Single Page Continuous. If when you double-click a named destination a heading appears at the top of the window, that's where the named destination is. On Thu, May 12, 2016 at 11:09 AM, wrote: > When I click

Just click on a few until you find one that goes to the right spot. Typically there's one for each hading. Make the Acrobat window smaller and set zoom to Actual Size so you can tell exactly where on the page each destination is. On Thu, May 12, 2016 at 10:42 AM,

Open the PDF in Acrobat, open the Destinations pane, sort by page number, look at the destinations on the page you want to link to. Depending on how the PDF was generated, there might not be any. https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/links-attachments-pdfs.html#destinations On Thu, May 12, 2016

I beat the process to hell and it seems to be stable. I use the "Go To URL" command and use absolute URLs to the PDF, then append #page=[page number] I've never used "Jump to Named Destination". How do I implement that to point to a destination page in a PDF that I cannot make changes to? John X

Use named destinations rather than page numbers, which can change if the PDF is updated. The MadCap developers didn't get that one right until version 8, and I'm pretty sure they only got it right then because I rephrased the issue half a dozen times until they finally understood it. I'm not
