I have 5 main Lines of Business (LOBs) documented and arranged in Books;
will call them Book 2, Book 3, Book 4, Book 5, and Book 6. I also have a
Book 1, which contains
Page size might be one reason to split a chapter.
When I run into this problem I modify the header to use a cross-ref to the
previous file to capture the Header/Footer variable info.

Do you have some compelling reason to split
variable in
the header or footer layout.

The short answer is, you can't do it with a RunningH/F
Can you copy paste the code you have in your variable and send it to the
list?
