TCS2 - Unable to install RoboHelp plugin for FrameMaker

2009-12-10 Thread ri...@inficon.com
Hello RJ J?cquez,

Thank you for your reply.

I tried the fix you suggested (see your email below).

The line that you said to add to my Maker.ini file was already there,
exactly as you have it.

Nonetheless, after creating a backup copy of Maker.in, I deleted the
existing line, added your line, saved and tried linking to a FM .book
again. I got the same error message.

I checked the path for:

RH4FMver9=Standard,RH4FMver9,C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Technical
Communication Suite 2\Adobe RoboHelp
8\RoboHTML\RHFrameMakerServer9.dll,all

It points correctly at C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Technical
Communication Suite 2\Adobe RoboHelp 8\RoboHTML\RHFrameMakerServer9.dll

I rebooted my computer, and tried again. I got the same error message.

Do you have any other suggestion?

Richard

RE: TCS2 - Unable to install RoboHelp plugin for FrameMaker

Hi Richard et al,

In general the connection between FrameMaker and RoboHelp in TCS2 happens
automatically, however we have seen rare cases where the message below
does appear. In theses cases, I would recommend the following manual
steps to correct this issue:

1. Navigate to this folder: C:\Documents and Settings\rjacquez\Application
Data \Adobe\FrameMaker\9. I have included my local path, so you need to
substitute with your own username.
2. Locate the Maker.ini file and ideally make a backup of it, just in
case.
3. In the [APIClients] section of the maker.ini file, add the following
line, again making sure you are including the correct path:

RH4FMver9=Standard,RH4FMver9,C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Technical
Communication Suite 2\Adobe RoboHelp
8\RoboHTML\RHFrameMakerServer9.dll,all

4. You should now be able to launch RoboHelp and when you "link"
FrameMaker files, the FrameMaker application should launch correctly.

Please let me know and I will also post this on my blog below the message
you left. Sorry about the troubles and I do thank you for using our TCS2
apps!

TCS2 - Unable to install RoboHelp plugin for FrameMaker

2009-12-09 Thread Art Campbell
First, Adobe provides free tech support for installation issues, and are
often helpful once you wade through the phone hell.
So I'd start there.

My own first questions would be: Did you install, and are you running as a
member of the Admin group? Did you check task or process manager to make
sure that Frame isn't running?

You can also ping the Tech Comm Suite Users' Group at
http://groups.google.com/group/TCS-Users?lnk=srg&hl=en
And there's an Adobe user-to-user forum in the Framemaker area -- Framemaker
Integration, I think.

TCS2 - Unable to install RoboHelp plugin for FrameMaker

2009-12-09 Thread ri...@inficon.com
I've upgraded to TCS2, and I'm just starting to explore RoboHelp 8.0.2.208

When I try to import a FM9.0.3 (9.0p250) file into RoboHelp, I get the
message, "Unable to install RoboHelp plugin for FrameMaker. Please close
FrameMaker and try again."

Well, FrameMaker is not running.

I've searched the Adobe site, and tried some Google searches, but can't
seem to find a resolution to this problem.

I'm on Win XP Pro v2002, SP3 on a Dell 450 workstation 2.40 GHz, 3GB RAM,
Dual 22" monitors.

Do you know how to resolve my problem, or can you point me to a TCS2 or
Robohelp discussion list?

Thanks for your help,
Richard
