What's the process here? I assume it's a free vote regardless of if people are
new or willing to return, in which case should those of us already on a FWT and

[Framework-Team] Sign Up for 4.x Framework Team Nomination Discussion List

2010-06-14 Thread Steve McMahon
Hi Framework Team and list followers,

I have created a new mailing list,
framewor...@lists.plone.orgfor discussion
of the
nominations for the Plone 4.x Framework Team. I am the initial owner and
will facilitate discussion but not vote.

This list has moderated membership. It is open to folks who 1) have not been
nominated and 2) are members of the current or any past framework team.

Sign up for the list at
http://lists.plone.org/mailman/listinfo/framework41. I will have to
approve subscriptions.

Let's allow three days for subscriptions before beginning discussion.

The nominations are available
at:https://dev.plone.org/plone/wiki/FrameworkTeamNominationsPlease
fix this if I've left anything off!

By the way, the list will not be archived by lists.plone.org. Discussions on
it should be regarded as private, since they are likely to include personal
considerations.

[Framework-Team] Plone 4 Framework Team Nomination

2008-11-23 Thread Nate Aune
I would like to nominate Ross Patterson to serve on the Plone 4 Framework
Team. He has demonstrated a longtime commitment to the Plone/Zope platform
and I believe that he will be a great asset to the team. Below is an
description of his experience and interest:

Since 1999, I've come to build my career on Zope and then also Plone. I
owe a lot to the community and I want to give back. It's also important
to me to help improve the community and technology. Likewise, it is
important to help preserve its accessibility and openness.

In recent times, Plone has suffered somewhat under its own success and
the history that comes with it. We are trying to improve and move
forward with new technology and best practices. We also consider and
support the community that has grown up around our success and made it
possible. It occurs to me that being a part of successfully balancing
these considerations could be more interesting and rewarding even than
the titillation of something new. I think a lot of great stuff will be
happening in Plone 4 and I want to be a part of it.

I bring an in-depth familiarity with nearly every piece of the Plone
stack, a passion for it's merits, and an equal passion for addressing
its flaws. I also enjoy writing and using my strong writing skills to
help keep technology accessible in all senses. I also bring the
enthusiasm of someone who believes in the community and the technology
of Plone and is excited to be a bigger part of helping to carry it
forward.

Steve,

I'd like to nominate Erik Rose from the Penn State Weblion group for
the Plone 4 framework team. I think you're aware of his skill and
intelligence, but he is also intensely interested in architectural
questions, and will bring a great eye for simplification to the team.
Please consider him carefully.

Thanks,

Cris Ewing

[Framework-Team] Nomination Plone 4.0 framework team

2008-11-17 Thread Martijn Pieters
Going out on a limb and against my own nature, I am nominating myself
for the 4.0 Plone framework team.

Apart from current framework team exposure, I bring 13 years of web
development experience, (with 10 years of Zope and 4 years of Plone
development). I worked 4 years at Zope Corporation, helping develop
the CMF and Zope 3. I have strong opinions about code quality,
testing, and how to make effective use of the component architecture,
and I am the Plone javascript maintainer.

[Framework-Team] Plone 4 framework team nomination

2008-11-11 Thread Danny Bloemendaal
I want to nominate myself for the Plone 4 framework-team. My goal:
protect Plone's UI or/and its future UI and make sure that technology
doesn't drive the wrong UI concepts and choices. I have several years
experience with Plone in this respect and I already fullfil this role
as a framework-team member for Plone 3 and I'd like to continue this
work. Especially now that we have rather radical and new plans for 4.0
so I want to make sure that we stick to state of the art, modern UI
and interaction patterns.

I want to nominate myself for the plone 4 framework team. My goals: make
sure that strict quality guidelines are used for accepting PLIPS on
code, UI and documentation fronts. And say no to as many things that
need not necessarily be in Plone.

I feel that I know Plone and Zope reasonably well by now, and I arlready
have a passing familiarity with the framework and release processes.

[Framework-Team] Plone 4 Framework Team Nomination

2008-11-10 Thread Calvin Hendryx-Parker

Hi All,

I'd like to get more engaged in the planning and direction of the
future generations of Plone. The framework team is probably the best
place I can help with this.

I've been involved with Plone since the first conference in 2003 and
before that we were doing Zope/CMF work since we started Six Feet Up
in 1998. This year we have started the Plone Tune-Up Rallies and
have helped clean up and close many bugs in the tracker so I'm pretty
familiar now with the standard core development practices. I also
have one PLIP that I have submitted and is accepted for the 3.3 release.

Moving forward I'd like to help keep Plone's developer community
engaged and enable new-comers to easily join and participate in the
process. I think that I have the experience with Plone and with prior
System Engineering positions to help make sure that we continue to lay
down the strong foundation of one of the world's best CMS's.

Cheers,
Calvin

[Framework-Team] Nomination for Framework Team

2008-11-10 Thread Michael Dunlap
Greetings Framework Team!

I would like to throw my hat into the ring of nominees for the Plone 4
Framework Team.

I have been working with Plone for the last two years developing products
and websites. I¹ve contributed (and committed!) fixes for a number of Plone
components and I would like to contribute further by joining the Framework
Team for Plone 4. I feel that I could be an asset to the team.

My most recent contributions include updating the AddRemoveWidget to better
fit in as a replacement for the KeywordWidget, creating an egg,
collective.keywordwidgetreplacer, that acts as an easily installable way to
replace all current KeywordWidgets with the previously improved
AddRemoveWidget, and finally, updating and eggifying the
PloneKeywordManager.

I¹m still learning a lot about Plone, but I feel that my experience building
Plone sites for the University of Washington gives me a unique perspective
on Plone and its future.

Yes, not only do I do regular code reviews at work I have worked as a
coursework marker for a masters level university java course. Part of
my job is that when I see an interesting package name in the plone
commits or on PyPI the first thing I read the source (including
readme) and talk to my coworkers about it.

- is excellent at reviewing documentation and release notes

I am the new editor of the configuration and setup section of
plone.org documentation and started the evaluation process that the
whole docteam is now using. See http://www.openplans.org/projects/plone-documentation/configuration-and-setup-overview
for what I've done so far. I love doctests as examples for plone.*
packages but for plone.app.* they generally seem to be less useful.
Either way, a readme file that clearly explains how to use the code is
vital, imo.

- loves to make sure a user interface is as simple as possible

Less so, I'm a terminal junkie. I know what I hate, as it were, for
example adding a new user with the manager role in PAS is dire, but
I'm more interested in ensuring integrators can easily customise a UI
than perfecting the OOTB one. As long as it's usable it's enough for
me.

Do you see yourself as someone who:

- excels at reading and understanding other people's code
- is excellent at reviewing documentation and release notes
- loves to make sure a user interface is as simple as possible

It would be nice if the team will have a balance between those
qualities.

[Framework-Team] Nomination

2008-11-04 Thread Matthew Wilkes

Well, I'll get the ball rolling on this.

I'd be interested in serving on the 4.x team. Although I've not made
masses of commits to Plone I do know the internals very well, I think
I must have pdbed or read most of it over the years and I'm
comfortable with development versions. I think the current team has
done a great job in not breaking Plone 3.x as its progressed and I'm
keen to see that continue with 4.x (x > 0). I'm used to working in a
development team for my day job, including code reviews for other
programmers, so I don't think there's anything in the job that I won't
have some experience with.

I get on with pretty much everyone too ;) I'm really not sure what
you're looking for in this email, so just reply if there's anything
extra you think I should talk about!
