Hello Jamie,
There is a direct animation/collage collective in Olympia, WA, called
CRACKPOT CRAFTERS, that is doing some fascinating work with natural
materials. They completed an anthology film called The Artifacts of
Life, and have other work as a group and as individuals. Filmmakers
Lotte Reiniger, really? I guess I haven't seen everything, but what I have
seen is shadow puppets, not collage.

This is brilliant, thank you for sharing. I didn't realize how many
things I've been getting wrong for so many years! It's clear to me now, step by
step, wow.

Oh crap I just saw this part :
Filming in certain areas is strictly prohibited and could result in a large

Hi everyone!
Does anyone know of any abandoned buildings in Los Angeles that are safe to
shoot in? I don't want to get arrested, or have to pay a thousand dollars. Zero
dollar budget.
Thanks!!!

Hey guys -
I have 2 eiki ssl, and 2 bell and howell filmo sound projectors, none of
which came with speakers. I'm trying to project films with sound on them
relatively soon and was wondering if anyone knew what the deal with that
is. What kind of jack is it? I've been googling and yielding no
Hi Mariah,
The jack out of the projector is typically a standard 1/4 audio jack (not
stereo) where the tip is hot (usually for driving 8ohm speakers) and the
sleeve is ground.
You should be able to safely hook up almost any speaker to it unless its a
powered speaker expecting a line-level signal.
thanks for the input guys. i thought the b+h projectors usually had
speakers on the inside of the cover, but maybe that's not the filmosound?
My eiki's didn't come with covers. Good to know! I'll run some sound film
through to test.

I have had excellent results coming out of projectors by using the 1/4 jack to
a DI (stands for Direct Input, I believe) which gives you an XLR output to a
sound system, microphone level. Many DI's have a switch to select Instrument
or Speaker levels, coming out of a projector you want to
