Subject: [Frameworks] super 8 repair person nyc - repost request...
hi fram
Thanks for the observation, Jeff. I am a big fan of your practical
implementation of the "oversampling" theory of scans aka the Nyquist
theorem.
However bitworks.org is my local resource here in Toronto and this is
what I have access to relative to my film work and testing.

Excellent research, Jean-Lious! The deeper we get into thisthe
more historical antecedence we collectively seem to unearth.
I will broadcast this on the UP8 Facebook page and other lists
accordingly, i.e. http://www.facebook.com/UltraPan8WidescreenFilm

Nicholas:
The resolution and bit depth of your files are a bit low, IMHO. The higher
resolution the scan, the better the output, whatever res it is.

Hi Scott,
Thank you for the great insights and I am now convinced that the 16mm
film out is the way to go. Yes, Cinebyte was on my list but I was
initially leery of approaching them. But your specifics regarding

Thanks to Fred for making this available.
It is rather astonishing to see how much work Gehr has produced after 2000, and
especially in the past few years. Has anyone written about this? Any
interviews with him where he discusses it?

Hi Nicholas,
Just stumbled upon this patent for a cartridge holding either UP8 2.8 or 3.1

Obviously nobody ever built a camera around it, but fascinating nevertheless.

You will actually find the filmout to 16mm will look better than a filmout
to the same super-8 stock will, regardless of the originating format. In
fact, you will find that a filmout to 35mm might even look better and not
cost all that much more.

hi frameworks,
i was searching for a post that was passed around earlier this year about a
super 8 camera repair person in the nyc area. someone had a great
recommendation, but i've lost track of it. if anyone knows of the post and
can link me to it, i'd really appreciate it.
thanks for the help!
Dear Frameworkers,
My Iowa Doc Festival entry materials (sent to the address on the hi-beam
announcement) got kicked back to me with a notice that:
box closed
unable to forward
return to sender
Does anyone have an alternative mailing address for the festival?
Thank you.

The Kodak film is 7983. It has a black lacquer coating, similar to photo
emulsion, which can be scratched or cleared with household bleach. Minimum
purchase is one can = 2 x 1000 foot rolls. Costs about $130 per can.

Luis,
Kodak has black emulsion leader, but you have to buy a lot of it. Motion
Picture Enterprises has clear plastic (no emulsion) leader. These are 1000
or 2000 foot minimums, as far as I know.

Hey,
I just got some single-8 film from Japan and my camera crapped out on me.
Just wondering if someone in LA might be able to lend or rent me a Fuji
Single-8 camera.
