but I'll defer to you so I'll throw it out anyways. Shirley Clarke's The

Hi Eric,

Try:

John Hawkins, LSD Wall (1965) clay animation of a trip (with a dedication to
his dealer!)
Storm De Hirsch, Peyote Queen (1965)
Eric Emerson's monologue sequence in reel 9 of Warhol's The Chelsea Girls is a
tour de force, and reportedly was performed under the influence of LSD (though
I don't know that he ever confirmed this). It certainly seems that way.
Ben van Meter's beautiful film S.F. Trips Festival.
Robert Cowan's Rockflow (1967) isn't representational of a trip, but does have
trippy movement and imagery - it's a delight.
There are clips floating around of a film called Syd Barrett's First Trip.

Hello Frameworkers,

I'm hoping to get suggestions for studying the tropes of the trip,
that is to say, the way hallucinatory and other drug experiences have
been portrayed on-screen.  Flashy, over-the-top visual signifiers are
what I seek, but Frameworks excels at identifying examples that aren't
what the original poster had in mind, so please go to it!

Examples will be put to experimental purposes, but can come from any
genre, thanks in advance.

Hope all of you affected by the Nemo storm are okay and able to find
beauty in it.

Re: [Frameworks] Industrial/Educational Regional Horror Films

2013-02-11 Thread Scott Dorsey
Part of the thing is that there is a whole generation of filmmakers who
started in the industrial film world or were drafted into the military and
wound up shooting military training films, and then afterward made the
move into features.

Just watch some of the WWII training films and the names on the credits
(when there are any) are amazing when you think of what so many of them
wound up doing later.

[Frameworks] what to do with all my old film stuff??????

2013-02-11 Thread k. a.r.

Hello, List.
I saved every single frame of outtakes and everything I ever shot.
Now it's 20+ years after I started in film, and I still have all of it.
It takes up a lot of space, and I'm pretty sure that I'm done working in 16mm.
So what do I do with all the 16mm film stuff I have? There is both my personal
stuff, but also a lot of peripherals, like editing supplies.
I don't know what to do with it, but I'm ready to clean house.
Ideas?
thanks in advance.

Transfer to HD selectively. This is not easy or cheap. Pat O'Neill digitized
the image from some of my prints but I am still trying to get around to
digitizing the audio, syncing it up and organizing the drives.

You probably don't need to keep the outtakes.

You might be able to sell the equipment on Craigslist or donate to a local film
center.

It takes lots of mental and emotional energy to do this.

I am dealing with 8mm and super 8mm footage. Paid to have some of it
transferred ( used a Groupon). But it didn't look very good. I want to find
time to capture it from a projector.

Then there are the slides And reel to reel audio..

I used to give my outtakes and junk to a local college film program
where they were teaching editing and teaching students to work with
found film.

However they don't do that any longer, so it just sits on shelves

I _am_ curious what students managed to do with some of that junk,
