Re: [Frameworks] Jud Yalkut RIP
A somewhat tragic turn of events as Jud and I had plans to release a DVD package of his films and documentation next year. I met him several times, most recently in Paris a few months ago. He once sent a beautiful Maurer optical sound camera to us at L'Abominable - just this week we made some optical sound tracks and composite prints by hand start to finish, including cross mod testing, density checks, etc. Jud sent us down this path years ago. We had not yet started working on his DVD project, so I have nothing to go on and no direct contact with Peg (who suffered a stroke recently) but if all is kept well in his house as he led me to believe then there is hope that it can be preserved, archived and distributed in the future. -Pip (Re:Voir) At 0:49 -0700 28/07/13, Mark Toscano wrote: I don't know the current state/whereabouts of his work, but will try to find out. He rejoined Canyon when I worked there, and I had a few nice and interesting conversations with me, but can't really say I knew him. I like what I've seen of his work, and he definitely broke some major ground as a media artist, for which he will, I imagine, continue to gain recognition. I'll do some checking about his work and where it resides. If I can do something about it to help, I'll be happy to, and can keep folks posted here if I learn anything. Re: [Frameworks] R-9 Ingredients Ottawa/Montreal
Hi there, I live in Montreal and I know of some people who order from Laboratoire AZ: http://www.yellowpages.ca/bus/Quebec/Montreal/Laboratoire-A-Z/2872169.html I tried ordering once, but found that they didn't have everything in stock and would have to order from their supplier. They would then charge me shipping for those items even though I would still have to come by the store location to pick them up. I far prefer Nymoc in Toronto: http://www.yellowpages.ca/bus/Ontario/Toronto/Nymoc-Products-Co/1153402.html They are helpful and quick. They have a lot of chemicals in stock, and it ends up costing less to have them ship to Montreal using Canpar than it would be to buy from Laboratoire AZ. So you could check if Laboratoire AZ has what you are looking for and if not you could order from Nymoc if you have a couple of days in town and an address you could use. Will you be presenting work while in town? [Frameworks] Hand-processing Color Film in LA?
Hi FW, I'm looking for someone in LA who is experienced in hand-processing color C-41. I'm interested in trying a technique where I dip-dye unexposed film in India ink, let it dry then shoot with it. Obviously this will ruin any lab's chemicals when they process so i'll need to do this step myself, but only have a darkroom set up for black and white. Anyone in LA point me to a home-hobbyist who might be willing to play with this technique?
