[Frameworks] Emotional examination of the film vs. digital transition
Hey frameworkers, I wanted to share my fundraising campaign for my feature film, The Don't Be Like Roy Campaign, a dark comedy about fear, control and 35mm projection. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jschley/the-dont-be-like-roy-campaign-a-16mm-feature The film, along with being a dark comedy, is an psychological look at age-old issue of progress vs. stasis, and the anxiety that comes from the tension between the two contradictory ideas. I'm doing a Kickstarter because I want to shoot it on 16mm, so if you can't donate, let your friends know! [Frameworks] Lawrence Brose sentencing hearing
Dear Friends and Supporters of Lawrence Brose, Here is the update you have been waiting for. Lawrences sentencing hearing is firmly scheduled to take place on Friday, October 31 at 10:30AM in the new Federal Court building, (2 Niagara Square in downtown Buffalo) in Hon. Chief Judge William M. Skretnys court. Lawrences spirit has been bolstered by reports of the many supporters who plan to attend this hearing. Lawrences legal team has done the best work possible, given the circumstances - the complexity of this case and the nature of the allegations. We are looking forward to having this ordeal behind us, but we are cautious in anticipation of the outcome. All of your patience and support has been deeply appreciated and helpful to Lawrence. Needless to say, however this Court rules with regard to sentencing on this plea deal, Lawrence will continue to need support emotionally, financially and strategically as he works to put his life back in order. Good news! The Forest City Gallery in London, Ontario has scheduled a screening of Lawrences film DE PROFUNDIS on Saturday, November 15 at 6:30PM, complete with discussion to be led by Scott Miller Berry, the Executive Director of The Images Festival in Toronto. Forest City Gallery is located at 258 Richmond Street, in London, Ontario. The screening will not only be a showcase for Lawrences major opus in film, but it is also designed as a fundraiser for Lawrences defense fund. Artists all over are realizing Lawrences situation could be their own and are becoming more involved in supporting Lawrence, the artist facing false charges. We should note that due to probation restrictions Lawrence is unable to attend this screening. Word is definitely getting out, and support always follows once people understand the details of this case. Sincerely, The Lawrence Brose Defense Fund Team ** We still need to remind everyone that freedom from this prosecution has cost Lawrence dearly, financially and otherwise, and of the need to continue to raise significant funds for Lawrences mounting debt. To make tax deductible donations toward Lawrences defense please log on to http://ncrj.org/lawrence-brose/ and donate to the Artist Fund for Lawrence Brose. We encourage everyone to visit Lawrences defense fund website to catch up on what is new, view the artwork that has been donated for sale and read the compelling letters of support from notable people who have voiced their outrage and concern for what is happening to Lawrence. www.lawrencebroselegaldefensefund.com Thank you for your continued support. Please share this with your own network. The Lawrence Brose Legal Defense Fund Team ___ FrameWorks mailing list FrameWorks@jonasmekasfilms.com https://mailman-mail5.webfaction.com/listinfo/frameworks
Re: [Frameworks] tableau vivante : experimental film and single frames
If I understand the question correctly, much of Jack Smith's work would apply; I would highlight Normal Love and No President in particular. Some of the Actionist films of Otto Muehl/Kurt Kren also come to mind: perhaps Cosinus Alpha, Zock Exercises, and O Christmas Tree. I am particularly interested in any examples of filmmakers that were investigating the tableau vivant as a reference to a film frame and not to a painting. Also any sub themes that may relate to tableau vivant as a durational film frame or living freeze frame, or a tableau vivant as a non-active scene/image shot stop motion or frame by frame (in camera or optical printed). Any suggestions for readings or names would be greatly appreciated! best, Rebekka Rebekka Moran rebekka.mo...@gmail.com http://www.rebekkamoran.com tel: +345 849 5978 ___ FrameWorks mailing list FrameWorks@jonasmekasfilms.com https://mailman-mail5.webfaction.com/listinfo/frameworks -- Andy Ditzler www.filmlove.org www.johnq.org Graduate Institute of the Liberal Arts, Emory University ___ FrameWorks mailing list FrameWorks@jonasmekasfilms.com https://mailman-mail5.webfaction.com/listinfo/frameworks
