Re: [Frameworks] Experimental film/video from COLUMBIA S.A.?

2015-12-28 Thread Herb Shellenberger
Jesse, thanks very much for the link to the current home of the La
Diferencia films. Some of them have made it over to YouTube and I was
trying to chase down info on the organization but their website is no
longer active. Lots to see there, especially some of the interesting films
by Luis Ernesto Arocha. By the way, there's a 16mm print of Arocha's Las
Ventanas de Salcedo at the Film-Makers' Coop.

As mentioned before, Luis Ospina is a figure to look into. There was a
weekend of screenings with Ospina in person November 2014 at Tate Modern.
You can hear the discussion with curator George Clark on their site:
http://www.tate.org.uk/whats-on/tate-modern/eventseries/luis-ospina-and-grupo-de-cali

and the program notes can be accessed here:

2015-12-28 Thread Lena Ditte Nissen
Hi - I can see my mail didn't come with its content.
So here it comes again:

Andres Jurado and Enrico Mandirola are running the Lab in Bogota, Colombia.
They are super nice and helpful and Andres is planning a little thing to
get the community there together even more.
Get in touch with him and he will for sure gladly help you further.

andresjur...@gmail.com

Enrico and Andres also curate programs that are shown at Cinemateca in
Bogota
and at MapaTeatro.

Another great contact would be LUGAR A DUDAS in Cali, a residency and
exhibition/screeing place
run by Oscar Munoz and his wife Sally. They just had a little
video/film-festival in september this year.

[Frameworks] Projector installation prep

2015-12-28 Thread Ryder White
Howdy, Frameworks,

I am getting ready to put up an installation next month (a short 16mm loop)
and I am getting all my gear together...does anyone have any tips for
preparing a projector for this kind of run? It won't be running
continuously, but will probably rack up an hour or two daily for four
weeks. I have a spare machine on hand, other expendables, and many copies
of the loop, but there are probably things that others have thought up that
I haven't.

Many thanks for your thoughts!

[Frameworks] More sketches on flicker

2015-12-28 Thread Emile Tobenfeld
Hi

I posted a new album of selected recent sketches to Flickr at
https://www.flickr.com/photos/22231918@N06/sets/72157662732560322

This album contains sketches that I completed in October and November. I've got
to catch up on my scanning so I can add my most recent work.

My style continues to evolve, as I have been working more and more with
pastels. I have not yet scanned a lot of my recent work, but you can see some
of my pastel work in this batch. I like to quickly build layers of texture by
rapidly rubbing the side of an unwrapped pastel against the paper -- a messy
but very fun technique.

You may have to zoom in on your computer monitor to see all of the textual
details in these sketches.
