I saw *Film Before Film* twice at Anthology, and once Nekes was there. He was very kind. I love that film. It always serves to fill the medium with subtly and wonderment once again, when I am feeling more jaded about 'cinema'. Very glad for the work that Nekes did. May he conduct strange

I have just heard that Werner Nekes passed away. I don't have confirmation yet but it's in the German press. Important filmmaker and great collector of optical toys and art and pre-cinema devices. Please do post if anyone has more information! ___
