Christine, this is exactly how you are supposed to use it. One trick I can add is to place the hose downwards instead of facing up - this way when you remove it you do not risk spilling any in case the tank is full, it also reduces the chance of leaks because part of the tube has to necessarily be above the tank level in order to then come back down where it is secured. -Pip Chodorov At 14:14 -0500 5/03/12, Christine Lucy Latimer wrote: >Kevin, > >Perhaps I have been using my lomo tank outside of its intended >purpose all of this time...but I have always poured my chemistry >directly into the centre opening at the top of the tank (where the >agitation assembly is), similar to the pouring opening at the top of >a 35mm Ansco processing tank. Re: [Frameworks] Lomo UPB-1A pouring issues
I often have to do the same motion to get it to work. What I've noticed is that if you have the house too high or low that it pinches slightly at the point where it connects to the tank. It will also pinch if you hold the tube against its natural curl. Sometimes I can get it in a sweet spot and it poors straight in. If the darkroom has enough space what I like to do is pour the developer into the tank and then slowly lower the spiral in and start the timer, then I close the tank and turn on the lights. I've thought about trying a different tube like the ones popular with home brewers but have yet to buy a tube. It also might be worth examining your tube to see if their is any sort of build up of debris in the tube. Now I've used my first developing tank for over 5 years and I've always had problems getting the chemistry in quickly. I pour half a ltr in and then I have to wriggle the black tube (a kind of up and pown motion) to get the rest of the chemicals to suck in. i thought this was normal until I got my second tank. The chemicals just glide in without effort. No odd tube movements needed. The tanks are identical so why wont my first one fill up properly? Any suggestions or have any of you had similar problems in the past?
