Re: Mobile Internet Sticks

I suggest to check http://people.freebsd.org/~n_hibma/u3g.html and "man u3g". I use u3g on 7.2 (with GENERIC kernel, I am simply loading the module) and a HUAWEI E220 (at least I think it is, can't double check right now, but it is sold as T-Mobile Web'n'Walk III stick in Germany) and it works just fine with userland PPP. Re: To meke Desktop FreeBSD setting up by Xorg -- under VMWare?

I started to use FreeBSD to constitute my file server and I want to use FreeBSD as Desktop OS. I would like to know how to setting FreeBSD as Desktop OS by Xorg on VMware Fusion act 2. Or I want to know how to setting command by GUI. I use MacBookPro 15inch USkeyboard. If you know the way ,please tell me that. pcbsd.org has a downloadable VMWare image. Even if you don't use their whole setup, you can use their xorg.conf as a starting point. -Warren Block * Rapid City, South Dakota USA What you might also try to do is to just install FreeBSD in VMWare from the ISO images yourself, then install the compat6x port and afterwards install the VMWare tools from within VMWare. This not only installs a special VMWare driver for X.org (and automatically sets up xorg.conf) which allows you to set the resolution and lets the mouse leave the VM window without pressing Ctrl-Apple keys each time, this also installs the VMWare tools applet that can be used to reduce the VM disk image from time to time. For infos about how to install the tools, have a look at the VMWare Fusion Help. Re: SPAM: Score 3.3: Re: Instead of freebsd.com, why not...
Am 12.02.2005 um 00:00 schrieb Johnson David: From: Anthony Atkielski [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Because FreeBSD is a server, not a desktop. Agree and disagree. While FreeBSD is well suited for the server, it's also well suited for the desktop. That doesn't mean that we should be stressing the desktop to those shopping for servers, instead it means that we shouldn't be telling those shopping for desktops to go use Linux instead. How many business will be running Linux on the desktop but FreeBSD on the server? None! Currently Windows rules the desktop world, even for diehard Unix shops. But that will not last forever. We need to start thinking about the desktop today. We need to stop the official discouragement of desktop FreeBSD. I agree with you, David, that although FreeBSD is primarily a server OS right now the desktop should not be forgotten. So how about a "www.serverfreebsd.com" and a "www.desktopfreebsd.com"? You get the best of both worlds that way. I would not make completely separate sites. Maybe IMHO make two separate big areas you can choose on the start page of the website but make one entry point so people immediately can see that FreeBSD can be used for both. Alternatively one could make links from the single freebsd.com (or whatever its name will be) to these two sites you propose.
