Hi all. I'm looking at trying to create a custom install disk for
Freebsd based off an existing install to make reinstallation quick and
painless, similar to how apt-on-cd works for Linux. The reason behind this
is I'm looking at going overseas for a couple years and will be leaving a
Hi all. Ok, I'm curious of something. I've done torrents before
via the graphical interface before, but I want to setup a way to download
isos and various FOSS apps via bittorrent, but I want to do it via the
console so I can start a torrent in screen and then walk away, allowing my

If you are honest for your site's objective,

Well, I am looking for a new logo, but I'd need someone who could
help me design it since I'm not all that great at graphic design. ^_^;
Hi everyone. I was wondering if anybody here might be interested
in writing and donating a few Freebsd tutorials or articles to Raiden's
Realm to help us boost the number of Freebsd related articles on the
site. A lot of what we have is Linux oriented right now because most of

From what I'm reading, it looks like you want a secure proxy rather than
a VPN, per se. SSH can be used to provide that functionality very
simply:

That explains how to use SSH for remote proxy service with Firefox, but
it's simple enough to

From what I remember of my security training years ago, IPSec was

Hi everyone. I'm looking for a tutorial on how to setup a VPN server on
Freebsd. Since I'm unfamiliar with VPN, a guide that is as simple as
possible would be preferred. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Ok, I don't know if this is a problem with the ports setup I have
on my Freebsd box or something else, but I thought I'd ask anyways. I've
got a machine with a fresh copy of 6.2 release on it. Thought I'd be cute
and install all the ports first and then go from there. pkg_add -r xorg
Hi all. I'm looking to merge two of my machines in my home office
into one to free up the second one for other uses, but one is a windows
machine, the second is my freebsd 5.3x machine. Can I just move the HD
from the Freebsd machine over to the windows machine and add something to

Just curious of something. How are file associations handled in
Freebsd? Are they handled on the OS level, Xwindows, or is it handled by
the actual Window Manager such as KDE or Gnome? Just curious because I'm
trying to help someone troubleshoot something he's developing. Thanks.
Looking for a guide online somewhere that will walk me through
setting up a mail server with the following items on it.
SpamAssassin
Postfix (pop3 and smtp setup)
MySQL (for database driven mail user administration)
MyPHPAdmin (to visually admin the database)
Squirrelmail (for webmail)

Ok, call me the curious cat, but I just cvsupped my ports tonight looking
for a patch to Xine to fix a problem with MKV playback under KDE 3.5 and
got quite the shocker. There were about 101 ports that said they needed to
be upgraded. The part that's the kicker is I just upgraded everything

I'm curious of something. I think I've got a fellow co-worker who may be
trying to break into my workstation and I need some help. I know kde logs
whenever a failed login attempt occurs if the screen is locked and sends
that in the daily logs, but it doesn't log successes. IE successfully

Any word on when this might be fixed? It at least makes me feel
better knowing it wasn't something *I* broke in the process of upgrading,
but it does kinda leave me out on a limb. ^_^;;

Still getting issues upgrading QT on my box. I'm to understand it's fixed for
the most part for others, but it's not for me. When I try to upgrade QT or do a make

When trying to upgrade/install QT3.1 to 3.2 I get an install error. This is
what it gives me. Sorry for the length of this but I'm not sure what's useful and
what's not. Can someone look at this and maybe give me an idea of what I need to do
to fix this? Thanks.
