port math/mpfr update failure www.mpfr.org site seems to be down

www.mpfr.org site seems to be down.

I can't seem to find mpfr-2.4.2.tar.bz2 on any of the half dozen or so mirrors
I manually checked nor is it mentioned in UPDATING or MOVED to try anything out
of the ordinary. Shouldn't it be in the ports/distfiles on the mirror sites by
now?

Cheers,

Tom

2009-09-07 Thread Tom Mende
Running on 7.2-RELEASE, Opera 10.00 build 4585 (native) and would like to view
flash enabled websites. Anyone with a howto? Have googled extensively and
followed a variety of methods all unsuccessful to date. Like to here from
someone who has it running?

freebsd-update userland sources

2009-08-02 Thread Tom Mende
Is there a way to get freebsd-update to keep userland sources up to
date?

I had thought that having src, world and kernel as components in the
freebsd-update.conf file would do this but it doesn't seem to. Do I
just add usr.bin and usr.sbin to the components list in the conf file
and run freebsd-update or is it more complex than this? I have read
the man pages on this but there must be a gap between my english and
how the man pages are written because I'm obviously missing the point
somewhere.

By way of background, I am trying not to use csup / cvsup and like
processes as their past, admittedly incorrect, usage by me, combined
with my incompetent salvage operations, has hosed my systems to the
point of needing to be reinstalled from scratch. I have been using a
combination of portsnap and freebsd-update to keep my 7.2-RELEASE
system up to date and commenced this at about 6.3-RELEASE and have
managed to not hose the system since that time. It now however appears
I need to have userland sources to keep fusefs-kmod up to date.

/usr/ports/sysutils/fusefs-kmodmake install clean
=== fusefs-kmod-0.3.9.p1.20080208_6 requires the userland sources to
be installed. Set SRC_BASE if it is not in /usr/src.

*** Error code 1

Stop in /usr/ports/sysutils/fusefs-kmod.

snip from Makefile
.if !exists(${SRC_BASE}/sbin/mount)
IGNORE= requires the userland sources to be installed. Set
SRC_BASE if it is not in /usr/src

.endif
snip from Makefile

I have got around this by manually downloading the fusefs-
kmod-0.3.9.p1.20080208_6.tbz, pkg_adding it, and then forcing the
packages that have this pkg as a dependency to portupgrade with the -f
option. Now portupgrade hits this pkg warning message (IGNORE msg)
everytime it runs.

Cheers,

Tom Mende

comms/qfaxreader - printer recognition issue

2009-01-27 Thread Tom Mende

Good day list;

Upgraded from 6.2 to 7.0 via clean install from CDs, then to 7.1 via
binary update. After upgrading to 7.0 I rebuilt and install all the
same ports using the same makefile except that the perl entries are
updated. This port built and install beautifully except it no longer
recognizes my printer, which it used to do on 6.2. Cups is set as the
printing system for xfce in the xfce Printing System Settings
dialogue. This was set prior to installing the comms/qfaxreader port.
The print dialogue in comms/qfaxreader is greyed out not allowing the
selection of a printer. Any ideas or help welcomed.

Cheers, Tom

...and everything else prints fine, xpdf, Mousepad (gui test editor),
Opera (native), and files from the command line using lp (cups version).

audio/aureal-kmod - patch-au88x0.c failed to apply cleanly

2009-01-27 Thread Tom Mende

Good day list;

Port worked find on 6.2. Having problems with this port since doing a
clean install from CDs to 7.0, further binary upgrade to 7.1 didn't
solve the problem. Have removed all exceptions from ports supfiles
and fetched and installed clean tree using portsnap without luck vis-a-
vis aureal-kmod. I also did the perl-after-update script as I had
problems with ports dependant upon perl after updating to 5.8.9.
Everything else pretty much works fine. Any help appreciated.

Cheers, Tom

Re: /usr/ports/databases/dbf segmentation fault

2009-01-14 Thread Tom Mende

Hi;

Problem solved - the source dbf file is somehow corrupted when
downloaded from an NT server to a PPC G4 Mac over a Microsoft RDC
client connection. This is a repeatable result. Used rdesktop to
download the files directly onto the trusty FreeBSD machine and it
works fine that way.

Cheers,

Tom
