if your yahoo mail is pop3, then you can process your mail with fetchmail + pine, it works like a breeze. you don't need X and you can do it from remote via ssh without any problem. make sure you quit pine before you access your email with other programs, tho.

fetchmail is a MTA (mail transfer agent). you can install it from ports/mail. it is easy to configure the first time you run it. but make sure you can download your yahoo mail by pop3 first. people have suggested it is a paying yahoo feature. fetchmail doc is readable at
