Hello,
Check your directory permissions on ~home/.mc
I tried 777 on ~/.mc - still the same problem.
How about other listers Midnight Commander? Is it the same on your computers?

Hi Daemons,
I have just installed the brandnew mc 4.7 - now there is still an old little
annoyance:
Being root I can switch away the mc-commander and use the shell, CTRL+o does
the trick.
But as a normal user CTRL+o blanks the screen, no shell prompt appears and

The author reviewed FDClone and Vifm along with Midnight Commander. Both
FDClone and Vifm seem fast and lightweight to the author.

I can't say if it's better (I've never used mc) but definitely it's
more lightweight: misc/deco.

Actually, I don't think he was questioning mc's size. He was merely
looking for alternatives that were _as_lightweight_as_ mc. :)
Personally, it'd be fantastic if mc was slated for inclusion. It's an
absolute necessary install once I get a system up and running.

Hi !
I am having weird problem. I have installed FreeBSD 5.3 on several
machines, and on two of those machines midnight commander has serious
problems. When I run it, it needs a long time to start, and I mean long,
about 5 minutes or so. Did anybody have a same problem? How did you fix it.

I got a problem with my mouse. I use Midnight Commander file browser.
When I run Midnight from XFree my mouse works well when clicking on
menus, files, etc... But when I try to do the same operations from
console my mouse selects the text over the window, in other words
copies the screen contents
