Things will be easier if you install (and use) sysutils/portupgrade It's best to use /etc/make.conf for world and kernel settings, and for general compiler settings; and use /usr/local/etc/pkgtools.conf for port settings. Anything in make.conf is seen by every build, but portupgrade reads per
