Daniel, Thank you very much for your help. I am golden now. Everything is working and I am really impressed with FreeBSD (I came from Linux world, particularly Debian). I got sound, USB etc working now and the process was quite enjoyable. Your explanation about ports versioning really belongs in

I am still running into this problem. I upgraded my ports using portsnap. Ruby version in my ports tree is still 1.8.2 (according to distinfo) while on the web site it shows as ruby-1.8.4_6,1 Also the distinfo on the web site the version was upgraded to 1.8.4 about 3 months ago! So why am I not
