from the smp man page.
1) make sure you have options SMP in your kernel and is built and
compiled OK.
2)put the lines in the /boot/loader.conf
and reboot the system
machdep.cpu_idle_hlt=0
machdep.hlt_cpus=0
machdep.hlt_logical_cpus=0
machdep.hyperthreading_allowed=

and the CPU stats (parts of dmesg)
