[Freeciv-Dev] [patch #3759] Make freesounds the default soundset

Follow-up Comment #3, patch #3759 (project freeciv):

CC Sampling Plus was the original licence for the sounds at the time, but it's
GPL incompatible.

Since then, freesound.org have deprecated CCSampling+ and have been asking
owners to relicense their sounds when they log in:
http://www.freesound.org/help/faq/#licenses-2

So, many but probably not all of the sounds are now available under a
different licence.

If someone could go through and work out how many of the sounds are under a
compatible licence, that would be help. (I've been vaguely meaning to cook up
something automatic to do so, but that's true of many things.)

If it turns out that say 90% of the sounds are usable, we could probably find
alternatives for the rest. (We could try contacting the original compiler,
Gavin van Lelyveld; his email address is in the -dev archives.)

(We discussed this before somewhere -- think it must have been on the old
forums.)

Well, of course it's a reserved name - that's why it was used there.
EXTRA is a valid *prefix* for _DEPENDENCIES variables - see i.e. 'info
automake1.11 Linking'.

We also have the option to just improve the stdsounds by taking usable parts
from freesounds. I haven't tested how well the samples of the two soundsets
work together, however.

From automake-1.11.3 NEWS:

For programs and libraries, automake now detects EXTRA_foo_DEPENDENCIES

So it doesn't work on all automake versions we want to support, and is
redundant declaration anyway.

Details:

Neither AM_PATH_GLIB nor AM_PATH_GLIB_2_0 defined in glib.m4 and glib-2.0.m4
respectively are used anywhere in freeciv configure, and those files define
nothing else. Remove the files.

In addition to applying attached patch one has to do the actual removal of the
files.
