traditional city size, the city map on the city dialog is now unusably small.

you are right; I did not test it

I can compile the sdl client but I did not get it to work. I can't start a
game as it does not responce to the mouse. I think it is a configuration /
library problem. At the moment I don't know how the city dialog looks like
for this client

too use it some parts have to be moved. One possibility would be to move the
units in their own row:


[city map   ][buildings]
[units ]
[food][city info][build now]


This would change especially the height of the dialog window. I would also
switch food / building status.

I did found the code in client/gui-sdl/citydlg.c but need (a lot of?) time to
understand it ...

This patch series must be rebased again (patch #1529). I will do it today or
tomorrow. Is it OK to apply patch 1 to 5 after that?

patch #1230 (new savegame format) should be considered in connection with the
new savegame format (patch #1541). This way the old format can stay while the
changes go into the new one.

Patch #1222 introduced an Event Scripting API change and I think it can be
avoided. Was it necessary? If possible, the API should be stable, see
https://gna.org/bugs/index.php?15587

If needed, the new name can be introduced alongside the old name.

The only important thing is to keep the externally visible name stable, so
all other things kept constant, I only want to revert this change in
server/scripting/api.pkg:

 -- Tile methods
-function Tile:city_exists_within_city_radius(center)
-  return methods_tile_city_exists_within_city_radius(self, center)
+function Tile:city_exists_within_max_city_map(center)
+  return methods_tile_city_exists_within_max_city_map(self, center)
 end

I did miss patch #1229: use new logging in cm_print_result() in the list in
comment #11

I plan to wait till after patch #1476 is applied; after that I will rebase
all of these patches and would like to discuss (and apply) them.

About: [10/11] patch #1234 - more than one build slot for units 

When I add an Engineer, an Armor and Coinage to a big cities build list then
I get 3 Engineers and 2 Armors. That is not what I would expect from the
multiple build slots. I would expect it to build an Engineer in the first
slot and an Armor in the second and then Coinage.
