I'm confused by this comment. FreeDOS 1.4 RC2 (and even the existing
FreeDOS 1.3) includes a LiveCD image that you can boot into a FreeDOS
that runs from the CD

No, it works when booted with JEMM386 and HIMEMX.
Also, JEMM was updated to 5.85 for RC2. I doubt it will make any difference.

I did a few quick tests with RC2 on VMware Workstation, and the results
are mixed.
RC1 had the problem that the installation under VMware did not succeed
because after the disk was partitioned and the VM was rebooted, the
installation did not continue. This is fixed in RC2 by an upda
