Yes, that's the intended way for ODIN.
Steve's ODIN releases were just bare files on a bootable diskette. No
drivers loaded.
I used fdconfig.sys to write a message for the user of the diskette,
that he has to configure his own config.sys and autoexec.bat files.
Because fdconfig.sys is preferred over config.sys (as far as the FreeDOS
kernel is concerned), the fdconfig.sys file must be renamed or deleted
in order to allow the kernel to read the contents of config.sys

I think I used the "/D" switch for command.com in fdconfig.sys, so that
autoexec.bat will also not be read unless fdconfig.sys is non-existing.

Perhaps an update in the near future.

FDCONFIG.SYS is a FreeDOS version of CONFIG.SYS
You better use FDCONFIG.SYS to avoid confusion

I'm not 100% understand what you want ...

Normally a FDCONFIG.SYS should have:

1) HIMEM.EXE
2) EMM386.EXE
3) SOUND CARD/CD-ROM driver

[FDCONFIG.SYS]
DOS=HIGH,UMB
DEVICE=C:\FREEDOS\HIMEM.EXE
DEVICE=C:\FREEDOS\EMM386.EXE
DEVICE={other driver according to their path}

A simple FDCONFIG.SYS is ready.

Johnson.

[Freedos-user] ODIN 0.70

2004-08-03 Thread Leke Lapinkangas

Hi I finally got round to getting FreeDOS - ODIN 0.70 onto a floppy ready
to install.

Then I got the...

Edit config.sys & autoexec.bat files so that they contain your specific
settings then delete file fdconfig.sys

...message.

I managed to open them both in FreeDOS Edit, but I don't know what to edit
and what to replace it with.
Are there any docs to help me on this subject?
Thanks.
