This may be totally unrelated, but my old 12in G4 Powerbook came with a 45w
power adapter, and my new 15in came with a 65w power adapter. None of those
sites with the melted powerbooks say which tibooks those are. One of the
known problems with these machines is the screen hinges, as you know.
So I spent all Sunday replacing the hinges on this powerbook (400Mhz,
Titanium). Now I'm done and it won't give a beep. It did before I
started the work, but I'm uncertain as to whether I'm using the right
PSU. Someone said I can use the 45W PSU and it should work. I have a few

There are two types of plugs on the PSUs, they look identical, but the

board. When you say it doesn't give a beep are you talking about the apple
chime? Does it even get power? These laptops were very inconsistent. Some of
them will overheat and melt as shown in the five links.
