i have a sawtooth, which i know didn't come with an ADC monitor.
however, i'd like to have an adc-capable card in my parts bin.
i looked at one on ebay but there is an extra tab with a few contact
on it, maybe 1/2 to 1 inch in front of the agp contacts.
i thought apple used contacts 3 and 11
Unless the E-mac was like 50eur or so I would preffer to invest in the
powermac...
512Mb PC133 ram as said is dirt cheap this days...and will give you a
nice boost vs the 512Mb that you have now...
If you need some advice on upgrades, read the powerpc faq that I made
on Macrumors
I am using tenfourfox and it's pretty good.

Hi Listers,
Info: G4s and a G3 iBook running OS X Tiger
How do you disable Top Sites entirely? Clicking the x on the little
movie screens when you go into History/Show Top Sites makes the ones
that were there go away, but I keep getting MORE little movie screens.
What I would like is for
My G5 1.8 single (late 2004) has an Nvidia 5200 card w/ that same
connector. My best guess is that since AGP does not have pins for
Power and USB, that's what it's for. Only macs that originally shipped
with ADC connectors would have that port - so not all G5's have it
from what I understand.

Next to Bookmarks Bar Uncheck include Top Sites
Also don't have Safari open onto Tops Sites at startup. You can set this

It is annoying that Apple didn't provide a clear interface in Safari.
Very very poor / inconsiderate design on their part.
It is a multi-step process. ( to expand upon

Well said. Apple doing QUITE well these days.

Those extra contacts on the second tab are what carry the +25V DC that
powers an ADC monitor. Pins 3 and 11 DO carry the USB signal. To the
poster that said USB requires 4 pins - Remember that two of the USB
pins carry +5V DC, which is available in the native AGP spec. Only two
USB pins actually

Apple has no reason to support all the different hardware out there.
However, if you buy the right hardware, it's pretty simple to install
Leopard or Snow Leopard on a PC. I currently run two Hackintosh's, one a
desktop and one a laptop. They run great and are totally worth the time

thanks for the answer.
followup question, then:
is it a reasonable assumption that the vga output of such a card (or
the dvi, if a card has that as the second output along with an ADC
output) will function if there is no 25V socket in line with the agp
socket?
thanks!!

You really can't overclock one of those as far as I know. Get all the
updates from apple, as well as the Flash Player updates and try a different
web browser.
