CF in place of 1.8 Hard drive

Can you put the CF flash drive, directly in place of 1.8 hard drive, I have a 2GB Compact Flash and it's pin is identical to those of 1.8 Hard drive will it work,? I have an iPod 4G and a laptop with a failing HDD, --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message
