Do make sure it's a symlink not an alias and the directory would be

You have raised two issues in this posting.

1 - You installed from a DVD drive, yet the installer did NOT see
that it was IN a DVD drive? I find that very hard to comprehend. If
the installation ran properly, the DVD Player software would have
been installed. It is a integral part of the OS.
That makes me believe that the player software had to have been
removed from the Applications folder, either by intent or by
accident. Just run the installer again and let it replace the
missing software.
If you don't have the disc to do the installation, run - don't walk
- to your nearest user group and borrow the disc from a member.

2 - The program you are thinking about is called "Pacifist". I have
never used it and cannot advise you of its abilities, sorry.

I use Pacifist in siuations like this. I too think the player was
moved or deleted. The DVD player will be installed regardless of a
drive present. I intall the systems with an image on a HDD.
Also I think that you could just copy thr DVD player to a stick and
drag it to thr Applications folder. I would search the machine with "
command f" to make suer it's really gone first.

System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts.

Everything is listed there.

You can add shortcuts directly in that prefspane. Or you can use a
tool such as OnyX to manipulate some, and change a lot of other
"hidden" (aka less documented) settings.

I like to sync iCal on two computers. And I would like to the two
calenders to keep on updating each other. What would you people say
is the easiest way to do that?

I believe that Google Calendar works with iCal you could sync to that and that
way it would be available online for both computers.

RE: No "apple dvd player"

2010-05-01 Thread Stewie de Young

I have no "Apple DVD Player" in the applications folder where it should be.
(Leopard 10.5.8), how can I get it? Jeff (and yes, I've recently added an
optical drive to this MDD dual 1.42)
 Jeffrey Engle

Which model optical drive ? It may not be compatible with Leopard or at least
not without a software hack anyway.
You can always go to
http://forums.xlr8yourmac.com/drivedb/search.drivedb.lasso
and type in
Drive Model No:
Mac Model:
MacOS Version:

and see what others have done to make it work.
