Has anyone gotten the chess program to work on a Pac Mate with firmware 4.61?
I cannot get the game to speak moves, nor can I successfully convey my move to
the program. I've tried entering e4 as well as e2e4 with no success. Also,
what is the cost of the game? The demo only allows 5 games

Hi Charles,
It has been ages since I played Ches Elite, and I don't even remember
what skill level I was on last time I played it.

Hi,
No, you have to pay for Chess Elite, but it works with Jaws and Window
Eyes and is better than Winboard by a mile.

is chess elite free or do we have to pay for it? It would be cool if there a
version of chess elite that was self voiceing and used sapi5.

Hi Josh,
Chess Elite is a game for the sighted market, but they have a checkbox
that was added to the game to make it accessible for screen readers.
Unlike many sighted game makers they were all to happy to add
accessibility to the game for us.

Hi,
I learned that the winBoard and all components are free open source so I
guess someone with knowledge of c or c++ if they wanted to and had time
could modify winBoard to use sapi5 speech that way you don't need jaws to
play it.

Hi Charles and all,
Chess Elite works fine with Window Eyes 6.1 as well. I haven't tried it
with NVDA, and that might be something we want to try.

Hi Eloheem Team,
I may someday create just the chess board without the chess engine just to see
if I can look and make sense of the board that way, but as I said before so far
I really very much prefer to have an actual physical board that I can put my
hands on.

Hi Josh,
I don't know, I have had thoughts of making a chess game, but I really prefer
to put my hands on an actual physical board when playing chess. I do though
have the file gnuch30g.zip which is supposed to be a chess engine in a neutral
language. So if I ever did work on a chess game I
and knights more dificult
without a board, but then again, I was only ever a mid range chess player.
