Re: [Audyssey] An Inquiry about MOTA
Hi Ishan, Let's get something straight. Weather you intended to or not I find your posts regarding this matter both rude and a little irritating. I've already explained why hiring another developer would be impractical, but my explanation seems to have gone in one ear and out the other. Either that or you just aren't listening to a word I say so I will explain it again. Hopefully, in language you can understand. I can not and will not share USA Games with another game developer for the simple fact there is little money to be made in splitting it 50/50 with another person. I've already stated before there is not much money to be made off of creating and selling audio games, and by splitting it 50/50 with another person I'd essentially be getting half of what I could have gotten on my own. At a certain point my supposed partner and I wouldn't make enough off the games to make it worthwhile. There would be no financial incentive in developing audio games to bother with it from a commercial standpoint. So I wouldn't be doing myself or my partner any favors by such an arrangement. As for getting a lone I wouldn't qualify for one right now given my financial circumstances. Even if I could I wouldn't because I would be that much further in debt. My goal for the next few months is to pay my debts off, to get myself out of debt, and recover financially. I'd have to be insane to add to my debt by taking out a lone right now. So its not even remotely a consideration accept for an extreme emergency That is assuming I could even get a lone to begin with. Finally, as for you wanting the full version of Mysteries of the Ancients join the club. So do a lot of other people but pressuring me, riding my back like a horse with a saddle, and constantly requesting a full release will not make that happen any time soon. I have personal issues that need to get resolved before that happens, and no amount of pressuring me, wining, complaining, etc will make that happen. So just deal with it. Get off my back. For what it is worth I have started writing up a new release schedule, a new time table for the new beta release of Mysteries of the Ancients, but it is tentative at best. Besides, I have a feeling no matter what schedule I create it won't satisfy you, and you'll just wine and complain because you expect things to be done according to some unrealistic schedule. I'm not Merlin the Magician, and can't wave my magic wand in the air and make a game appear out of nowhere. It will take me months to catch up the backlog of work on Mysteries of the ancients so it is better for you and I both if you just wait patiently for things to get done when they get done. P.S. Hi Lisa, Honestly, I'm not sure why I put up with Ishan's bull crap. I guess it is because I have a thicker skin or a greater tolerance for it, but even so I've been sorely tempted to kick Ishan off the list. Just haven't found a reason good enough to do it. As for telling him off please don't do that. You are a valued member of this community and I'd hate to have to moderate you or ban you from the list for giving Ishan an ear full even though I agree he probably deserves it. Now, if you want to say something to him off list I have no objections to that since it is out of my control. :D In any case I haven't decided what to do about Ishan yet, but one place to start is by sensoring his messages more. Basically, anything I don't like, think is in appropriate, for the list I'll reject it or delete it outright. Starting now he is going to be on a tight leash. Hi Charles, Maybe he thought that because we do give you special recognition for helping with Ten Pin Alley, and for promoting the game through the years. Re: [Audyssey] An Inquiry about MOTA
In this context, champion is being used in the same way as calling someone sir, boss, Governor etc. It's a sort of informal way of talking up to someone, an attempt to show respect. A tad awkward, and annoying with repetition no doubt, but I would've thought it was obvious that there was no actual ill intent behind it. Tbh, given the amount of rambly junk that goes uncommented on here, I can't quite believe I'm seeing an entire thread of regular posters piling on a young guy who's obviously not speaking his native language and seems to still be finding his way when it comes to social etiquette on the net. Long live the double standard You stay classy now chaps... At 03:39 AM 10/17/2014, you wrote: Hi Ishan, Let's get something straight. P.S. My name is not Champion. I would appreciate it if you stop calling me that. Basically, anything I don't like, think is in appropriate, for the list I'll reject it or delete it outright. Starting now he is going to be on a tight leash. The point here isn't that he's not speaking his native language. The point is that people have repeatedly explained things to him in many different ways and he still asks the same questions and demands things be done now, now, now. Re: [Audyssey] An Inquiry about MOTA
Ah, maybe you misunderstood. The language difficulty was just one aspect of the broader point I was implying, that being that what's happening here is petty jibing which does nothing to solve the actual problem. Since subtlety doesn't always stay in tact in writing, let's take it a step further. It doesn't solve the underlying problem, but it does make a bunch of regular posters seem like the type of people who'd pile on to deliver a covert kick to the kidneys of an annoying kid in a school yard when there's already someone twice his age beating the snot out of him. I mean, a guy who writes the way Josh generally does pasting a dictionary definition... come on... not cool... Moderated posts would've probably solved it, and still might. This is assuming that the savage dogs of war can be called off of course lol On 10/17/14, Bryan Peterson bpeterson2...@cableone.net wrote: The point here isn't that he's not speaking his native language. [Audyssey] frustrated with items and equipment example map
well I got the ogre down to 14 health and then I was defeated so far on average I can get it down to 47 or 45 health but I ultimately end up dying. first I move over one square and take the bow and the scroll of flying. then i go a few rounds and then attack once or twice with the bow before I move two spaces right and take the healing potions, the vest which I equip, the sword and the scroll of fire pillar. Then go 2 or 3 more rounds, hit ogre with the bow once or twice, then when I know he's getting 3 or 4 squares away I set up the fire pillar and end my round. and then equip the long sword. end round, ogre punches, i lose 20 or so health. use one potion, hit once with sword, round changes, and it goes like that until I run out of potions. during the last round I strike two times with the sword get the ogre down to maybe 45 health once got him down to 14 and then I end up dying or losing. [Audyssey] Ishan - Re: An Inquiry about MOTA
Due to the lack of subject line change, I've missed most of this discussion. I think, personally, that the main problem is not a language barrier, although, to some degree. The main factors are a lack of maturity and a total disrespect of others. I no longer read his posts due to their lack of understandability and due to their content that, to be honest, tee me off when they can be understood. While this may seem harsh, I do mean it as constructive criticism. --- Be positive! [Audyssey] star wars the clone wars
I played star wars the clone wars tacticle battle 2.0 map and its the best audio star wars game ever! the map is in real time strategy but battles are turn based. I lost on the second level where you have to use all your many clone troops and a few jedi with light sabers to get past the battle droids, have your clone engineer build the bridge over the chasm and then cross it with your batallion of clones and jedi and take out the battle droids and the blaster cannons break down the blast doors and uh there's something else at the end I forget but many of my clone troopers got killed in that tacticle battle map. if you can edit .txt or text files and change numbers and easily explained descriptions you can make your own map. it even has an in game map editor you hit alt e I think to get into that and change the map. now all we need is a big big big sound library. I'd love to see a harry potter tacticle battle, dota2, lord of the rings, maybe some final fantasy and more. you can make your own maps no programming required! star wars maps has at least 14 to 20 chapters or levels in those map packs, yes there's two of them! they are so so awesome! age of warlords is excellent also! you guys gotta get tacticle battle. only thing I wish is I wish we could play online in teams. maybe someone on here can write scripts to enable online play? thomas ward mayb it would just be easier for you to adapt your mota game to the tacticle battle mapping engine and script it for online play. that would be so much fun! tacticle battle is so fun I can't believe you guys on here never heard of it before! go get it and all the maps its fun and so adicting! the star wars and star trek games are so realistic and have lots of depth you'll be playing for hours! star wars and age of warlords also! oh yeah and don't forget about the tower defense map. P.S. My name is not Champion. I would appreciate it if you stop calling me that. For one thing while the USA is a commercial country a lot of people, including myself, are in financial trouble right now and can't afford to just pay someone to write games or whatever. When my soon to be ex-wife left last fall I had to basically spend all of my savings etc to hire an attorney for the divorce, and as a result of the divorce I am pretty much flat broke. While I wouldn't call myself penniless I am pretty close to it at the moment. Second, due to a number of factors I haven't been working for a long time, and am collecting disability. That means while I have money coming in to pay my bills such as rent, internet, electricity, and so on I don't have a lot left over for extras. Let alone to hire an employee as you suggest. Finally, making audio games isn't likely enough to support one programmer let alone two or more. At most an audio game will bring in maybe $10,000 or so in sales, if it does that well, and then about 25% will come out of it for tax purposes. Say $7,500 clear. Now, we have to split that between two programmers which comes to $3,250 per person which is almost nothing. Bottom line, I could probably get a job working the lunch counter at Burger King, McDonald's, or Wendy's for twice that so making a living off of audio games isn't remotely possible. Much less hiring an employee as you suggest. As far as PCs Games goes who is Charles? Last I knew Phil worked alone, and developed Pac-Man Talks and Sarah by himself. He had a partner when starting out, but he left years ago to per sue a more lucrative career in the mainstream programming industry. At 03:39 AM 10/17/2014, you wrote: Hi Ishan, Let's get something straight. P.S. My name is not Champion. I would appreciate it if you stop calling me that. Josh, Something to consider. This map is probably not meant to be balanced. It’s a demonstration of, as said, items and equipment. You can probably mine it for ideas and so on, but actually playing it as a game almost certainly wasn’t the intent of the author. Best, Zack.
