I have a sneaking suspicion that though we register our characters we won't
actually be controlling the fights. I've gone up and down several times on
the ceedings without ever actually doing anything. Of course it's hinted at
this in the rules. The second one says all rounds will be run by the

Hi Che,
Unfortunately, Microsoft offers no simple or easy way to obtain that
information. For example, the dxdiag.exe utility will only report you
are running 9.0C, but will not give you actual stable release dates
which is crytical if you are using the updated releases such as June

Hi Jason,
Those UAC prompts can be disabled via msconfig. However, I only
recommend disabling them for major installs of software, and reenabling
them after that.
Yes, it is more secure to have the UAC prompts enabled, but it comes at
the cost of the same level of ease of access as XP.
Hi Jason,

Hi andy.
Well firstly, when I started playing the game I had to spend a fair amount
of time memorizing all the keys and learning how to use them, sinse Shades
has a lot of highly useful keys when you've worked them out. this took a
couple of readings of the manual and some experimentation.
Depends on where you're stuck.

I'd assume there'll be more. They're usually at least a month long.

Hi Andy,
With a game like Shades of Doom, (SOD,) remembring at all times what
direction you are traveling is esentual for completing the level. For
example, the first hallway you start out in runs from East to West, and
you are initially facing West. As you travel West there will be two
