Evil Zone is one very awesome fighting game, which is more like a TV show

A sighted lady friend of mine asked me what games she and I can play
together?
As I don't know braille and probably will never learn..it seems doubtful I
can go and buy some sort of game that we both can use.
I had considered teaching her backgammon.
I can take the pieces I would use and replace them with either dimes or
 pennies.
This way I would know what pieces were mine and which were hers on the
 board.
I have dice with deep grooved dots in them so I can read the dice when i
 roll them.
So this will do for a first sighted versus blind player type game.

But I would like to know what other options I have to either make or buy?
I know I have alot of computer games I could get her into from the Jim
 Kitchen line of games.
But we are looking for something we can easily take with us when we
 travel.
Thanks in advance for any tips/ideas given.

That's because I have it set up that way. I personally do not like it
when the dns is set up so you have to type www no matter what. Believe
me, there are plenty of places which do that. All the www part is a
sub-domain or third-level domain of a second level domain. audyssey is a
second level domain and org is the top level domain. This is how all
domains work. Anyway, that is more than what I really wanted to say.

 Hiya,
I just stumbled onto an interest in play by email games, especially
play by email strategy games. I just felt I'd share my findings with you
all, as this genre of gaming isn't one that Audyssey seems to have covered
 extensively.
There is one particular PBEM title which I'm involved with, which has
captured my interest somewhat. It's called Atlantis, and there are many
versions of it out therre. What sets it apart from a lot of other
strategy type games is that there isn't an ASCII map. Reports are just
text which describe in some detail the world as seen by player units,
describe the statistics of those units, etc. It's really quite neat.
What is more, orders are submitted via email to the Atlantis server, and
they're in a more or less comprehensible format.
The particular game I play is called St Atlantis, and has a web page
 at:
 http://www.arno-saxena.de/atlantis/atl_home.php
I highly recommend those interested in strategy take at least a look at
this game. It's quite interesting in my view anyway. I'd be glad to hear
 your impressions.
 All the best,
 Zack.

anytime now, to include flight sim x.

Hello, all. I was just curious if anyone from Draconis Entertainment was
 on
this list, or if anyone knew of a way to get in touch with them other than
sending an email through their web site. I purchased a game on August 12,
and still haven't gotten an unlocking code. In fact, the only feedback
 I've
had regarding my purchase has been through this list when I asked a couple
of weeks ago. I'm really starting to wonderif a refund might be in order.
 I
wanted the game, but I'm on a tight budget and if I can't get a licence
 for
the game, I could certainly put that $31.95 to better use.
Anyway, I'm just looking for advice on what I should do at this point. I
have no problem with being patient, but the fact that my emails to
 Draconis
haven't even been acknowledged worries me a lot. Thanks in advance for any
advice you may be able to provide, and I'm really sorry if this message
isn't strictly on topic; I'm just getting desperate to get this issue
 resolved.

Worked fine for me. My problem is there's no trial version of the game, you
just have to buy it outright. I'm a but learie of this since I really have
no idea how fully accessible it is. That and the nav panel dealy costs more
than the game itself does. I'm interested in trying this out most definitely

For a minute there, I thought you were saying that blind people could fly
planes. lol. What I'm trying to say is, we can't possibly fly a plane unless
there are scripts to make this easier, which according to orin, there are.
remember this is a mainstream game, not an accessible one.

Re: [Audyssey] anyone play microsoft flight simulator

2007-08-28 Thread Shadow Dragon
I have flown a plane in real life before, *smirk.* Not even kidding, my
cousin is a pilot and he let me fly his plane once. But yeah, I don't really
see how this could be possible. I was looking at the navigation panel dealy
that's supposed to make it accessible, what it looks to me like is about all
you can do is set the plane to autopilot and let it do all the flying.
Doesn't seem like too much fun to me, but I still want to try it out on the
off chance that this thing really is fully accessible. I wonder if the
combat sims are or can be made accessible in any way? That sounds like much
more fun.

when the dns is set up so you have to type www no matter what. Believe
me, there are plenty of places which do that. All the www part is a
sub-domain or third-level domain of a second level domain. audyssey is a

Re: [Audyssey] I've learned something!

2007-08-28 Thread Trouble
Actually it just means world wide web. you can type the domain like
audyssey.org all by itself and you will end up there, and that is
first level of the domain. The next level comes after the .org with a
/, like .org/. The more slashes the more levels you are going within
the domain.
if you can't get the domain to work without the www. its because what
ever holder of the domain didn't register it with one of the main
companies or providers in that area to hold the name. To make that a
bit more better. you can put a ssl on any web site. if its registered
with a ssl carrier. Then you get no problems going to the site, but
if not your browser will tell you its a bad site. Good example of
this is the book serve that a lot belong to. it blows up on that all the time.
i have very rarely seen a site that i had to type it all out, and
most of them came from international sites. Where they don't care
about registering because most of them are illegal anyway or used for
those purposes.

Re: [Audyssey] anyone play Microsoft flight simulator

2007-08-28 Thread Shadow Dragon
There aren't really scripts to speak of, but the link for the program is in
another message somewhere. As for flight sim, you can buy it basically
anywhere, amazon, best buy, just have to look for it. Its like 50 bucks for
the delux package or something like that.

Saying that how can a blind person fly planes in a game because he's
blind is like saying, how can a blind person play a racing game since
 blind people can't drive.

Thanks in advance for any
advice you may be able to provide, and I'm really sorry if this message
isn't strictly on topic; I'm just getting desperate to get this issue
 resolved.
 Missy

2007-08-28 Thread Scott Shade
I'd actually like to get a trial version of fs 2004 if possible and then try
to buy it if I like what I see with the navigator program combined. I'd
love to fly. Hell just the chance to do something like that not even for
combat purposes butt, just to fly even a personal aircraft or a few of the
commercial jobs over an active route from say springfield illinois to say
sanfrancisco california and do the whole thing from route planning to
aircraft securing and shutdown at destination with all the elements and
environmental stuff along the way would just be neat for me. I remember on
my last flight back from getting my guide dog in california, the captain let
anyone who wanted to listen to it have access to the air to air and air to
ground communications that the crew was hearing in the cockpit over the
planes sound system that you could listen to from your seat. It was
actually really fun to hear my plane get handed off to several different air
traffic control facilities and then to receive orders to move to different
altitudes and actually feel that happen in realtime. Hell I even got to
hear maintenance trucks talking to the tower before going from point a to b
across run ways at chicago before we deplaned. That was an experience I'll
never forget. So to actually beable to hear that and handle the information
from the point of view of the flight crew would really be neat for me.

2007-08-28 Thread nicol
Yeh and IE have this neat feature where you can type any address that ends
with .com without the .com and press control enter and it will put the
.com at the end.
For example type yahoo into the address bar and press control enter and it
will go to yahoo.com.

Good example of
this is the book serve that a lot belong to. it blows up on that all the
time.
i have very rarely seen a site that i had to type it all out, and
most of them came from international sites. Where they don't care
about registering because most of them are illegal anyway or used for
those purposes.

At 11:59 AM 8/27/2007, you wrote:
That's because I have it set up that way. I personally do not like it
when the dns is set up so you have to type www no matter what. Believe
me, there are plenty of places which do that. All the www part is a
sub-domain or third-level domain of a second level domain. audyssey is a
second level domain and org is the top level domain. This is how all
domains work. Anyway, that is more than what I really wanted to say.

[Audyssey] super liam

2007-08-28 Thread nicol
HI liam
A few questions for you:
1. Do you have a credit card system? Can I buy the game on your site using
a credit card?
2. How much replay value would you say does super liam have? I know some
folks have a hard time with super liam, but I think you as developer can
tell me if your game does have much replay value? I am considering
purchasing super liam, because the sound effects are really cool. I really
like that sound effect when liam falls into the pit or whatever on act2, its
really a cool effect, but at the end of the day I want to buy a game with
a lot of replay value so would it be possible for you to tell me if you
think your game has replay value?

[Audyssey] .Net 2.0 vs 3.0 and Vista support.

2007-08-28 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi all,
Recently I've been strongly considering upgrading all my games to the
.Net Framework 3.0 in order to better support windows Vista which others
and I now are using on a daily basis. The plus side of doing this is
that all that will be required is installing or upgrading DirectX to
Aug. 2007, and then install my games on Vista.
The downside is that users using anything earlier than Windows XP will
have no support for my games. I've read that .Net Framework 3.0 only
supports, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP all versions, and Windows
Vista. Which means if there are any of you still using Win 2K it will no
longer be supported.
First, I'd like to know if there are any of you out there using or
playing my games on Windows 2000. I need to know how big an impact this
would be updating to .Net 3.0.
Second, how many have upgraded to Vista, or plan to upgrade to Vista in
the next year or two.
Thanks.

 Hi all,
Recently I've been strongly considering upgrading all my games to the
.Net Framework 3.0 in order to better support windows Vista which others
and I now are using on a daily basis. The plus side of doing this is
that all that will be required is installing or upgrading DirectX to

The downside is that users using anything earlier than Windows XP will
have no support for my games. I've read that .Net Framework 3.0 only
supports, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP all versions, and Windows
Vista. Which means if there are any of you still using Win 2K it will no
 longer be supported.
First, I'd like to know if there are any of you out there using or
playing my games on Windows 2000. I need to know how big an impact this
would be updating to .Net 3.0.
Second, how many have upgraded to Vista, or plan to upgrade to Vista in
 the next year or two.
 Thanks.

 Hiya,
I just stumbled onto an interest in play by email games, especially
play by email strategy games.
 All the best,
 Zack.

Re: [Audyssey] .Net 2.0 vs 3.0 and Vista support.

2007-08-28 Thread Gary Whittington
Well, I have two computers my new main computer Vista and a XP.
At this time Vista can do things that the XP can't and the XP can do things
can do things that Vista an't.
Getting my Vista up to sppeed takes time.
I was forced to move to Vista when my old Main computer blew out its
motherboard.
I reckon will be the main reason why folks will get vista, to pooling to see
who is going to upgrade will give you an unclear idea.

I suggest mult platforms version links on your FTP server for ahile. Then
saying that this version is no longer support.
The download stats will provide you info enough down the road to then remove
the old .networks links.

Since you use Vista I have a question for you that you can email off list or
any body else.

Setting up my NFL accessible pool I find that the software saves its tourney
templates in a folder. IN the software I am able to see my saveed work, but
not when I
open the folder outside of the software.
IN summary, how do I make my folder to show
files?
Vista permission schema is complicated. I even try changing the parent
folder in the program files.
Could this be due to that my Turbo Turney software which not supported for
vista yet be the problem. I do have an another issue that I get that is
related to saving the templlets. I would always have to change the file
name to make its save. So it won't let me overwrite.
I get an overflow problem when I do try to save to the same file name.
So any ideas send them to me off list at:

2007-08-28 Thread shaun everiss
Well I doubt I will upgrade.
I base all my upgrades on a required to basis.
Since I don't work for now really all programs I have are still ok.
NOw when xp support goes after its last pack then I may think about upgrading.
The major issue is i have to shell out about 3000 just to update
screen readers like jaws and hal that I don't use all the features of
for no real reason.
If I upgrade, I will get the best version of vista and pro versions
of everything, after all I'm spending enough.
However as long as vista is the way it is I doubt that loads of
people will upgrade on a mass scale like in xp.
And who knows if I will.
I am thinking about duelbooting linux ubuntu since i hear its a
rather accessible package.
Ok I may have to get some sort of dos and windows emulaters, but well
I am thinking about it.

Re: [Audyssey] .Net 2.0 vs 3.0 and Vista support.

2007-08-28 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Damien and all,
Let me refraze the Vista question so my question is more clear. I am
trying to figure out how many of you will be upgrading to Vista over the
next year, and not gather data on how many are planning to stick with
XP. XP works fine with .Net 3 and DirectX so no compatibility issues
there I can see.
However, Windows 2000 does have known issues with .Net 3, and one reason
if I choose to put more future long-term support into Vista I can not
garentee 2000 support.
Damien, as far as you upgrading or not upgrading that is a question of
time. In 5 years any new system you will buy will be totally Vista
compatible. It will be unlikely anything earlier than Vista will work on
such a system. Who knows,in the next year that can happen. Point is,
sooner or later the change is inevitable unless you plan to buy one of
Del's Linux notebooks or a Mac, etc Vista is our future like it or not.

well I have fsnavigator with data bases and tutorials and language
files, all up around 22mb or so not that big.
The main program is 10mb and the rest is quite small.
Well small packages.
Price is 45us or 35 euros, maybe cheaper getting euros depending
where you are, eg with exchange rates, I think I need to pay
something like 80nz for usd and 15nz for euros.
since .5 euros is 50c.
Thats good.
I have access to fs2k and 2k2 as well as fsx.
I will try al of these on all games.
Should rock.

combat purposes butt, just to fly even a personal aircraft or a few of the
commercial jobs over an active route from say springfield illinois to say
sanfrancisco california and do the whole thing from route planning to
aircraft securing and shutdown at destination with all the elements and
environmental stuff along the way would just be neat for me.

Hi Josh,
Just speaking from personal experience if you are getting a new computer
with in the next year it's better to get one preloaded with Vista rather
than upgrade.
The reason is Vista is notorious for having hardware and driver issues
on untested computer systems. The one's you buy that have Vista have
already gone through hardware checks, and are 100% Vista compatible.
Just for your information if your worry is accessibility I can say Vista
is quite accessible with NVDA 0.5, the latest Jaws, and latest Window Eyes.
Cheers.

Hi Ron,
(Smile) I can understand your reasons there. You are right XP SP2 has
been the most stable os Microsoft has released to date. Anything earlier
is not worth your time as far as stability and security goes.
Microsoft has a huge history of releasing buggy operating systems, but
over time they get better. Windows 95 1st eddition was horrible. Windows
95 2nd and 3rd edditions were dramatic improvements. Again when Windows
98 came out it had all sorts of crashes, even crashing wen Bill Gates
showed it off on its unvailing. Windows 98 2ND eddition improved things.
Windows XP, 2000, and now even Vista have there share of problems until
service packs came out to fix them.
To date only Windows XP SP2 is the most reliable and safe of the
operating systems from Microsoft which says something for XP.

Ron Schamerhorn wrote:

well I'm trying to flush out the old 98 systems and old programs we use.
So far I have mannaged to stop using office97.
Now here is the crux.
I currently have 2 systems with 98 in service, both for users that
need them currently.
HOwever these are all short term users.
At which point I have no use for either.
one is a toshiba laptop and the other a desktop.
So I'm thinking about going linux on one of them maybe I will, need
to find which is easiest to stick a network card in first.
But I doubt I will upgrade, and if I do, until this xp thing dies and
xp support dies it probably will not be the main system, the bsc
stuff does not work with vista and I will not run vista if they don't
work, I spent good cash on the games.
I got the entire arcade pack and well.

Subject: [Audyssey] .Net 2.0 vs 3.0 and Vista support.

Hi all,
Recently I've been strongly considering upgrading all my games to the
.Net Framework 3.0 in order to better support windows Vista which others
and I now are using on a daily basis.
Thanks.

2007-08-28 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Michael,
I can certainly tell you it has nothing to do with .Net 3.0. Super Liam
was written in Visual Basic 6.0. As you may or may not know Visual Basic
6 applications are not well supported under Win Vista, and Microsoft is
pulling all support in 2008.
Anyway, I don't know the exact cause of your SL error, but I am doing a
Vista reinstall on my laptop sometime this up and coming weekend. Once I
get the system reinstalled I will drop SL on there, and see if I can
duplicate your issue. If I can and get a solution I will notify the list
and Liam with my findings.

Re: [Audyssey] .Net 2.0 vs 3.0 and Vista support.

2007-08-28 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Shaun,

Quote
If I upgrade, I will get the best version of vista and pro version.
End quote

Well, let me just say this since I have some inside knolege about Vista
that the public doesn't know. Every Vista dvd that is pressed is
identical except for one or two files that tells the os if it is Home
Basic, Home Premium, Ultament, etc... So if you buy Vista Ultament you
sspent about $300 for a version of Home Basic with an extra number of
gizmos, most of which you will never use, and can easily get off of web
sites where the darker side of piracy thrives.
I am not a software pirate, and have purchased every single copy of
Vista I own. However, my point is I have seen Ultament and for a home
user buying it is a total joke. Home Premium which is about $300 less is
perfect for even an advanced home user. The stuff and extra goodies in
Ultament are a waist of time.
What I am trying to say as a software developer I can clearly see every
copy of Vista is the same version, but Microsoft adds this or that
applet, program, etc to make Small Business, Ultament, etc somewhat
different. Allot of that stuff is on your Home Basic or Home premium dvd
buried in cab files, but you can't access them, because the software's
security files which tells the os which version it is suppose to be
won't let you install them.
How is that for trivia of the day.

 Hiya,
I just stumbled onto an interest in play by email games, especially
play by email strategy games. I just felt I'd share my findings with you
all, as this genre of gaming isn't one that Audyssey seems to have
 covered
 extensively.
I highly recommend those interested in strategy take at least a look
 at
this game. It's quite interesting in my view anyway. I'd be glad to
 hear
 your impressions.
 All the best,
 Zack.

[Audyssey] BSC Games and Vista was .Net 2.0 vs 3.0.

2007-08-28 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Shaun,

Quote
 the bsc
stuff does not work with vista and I will not run vista if they don't
work, I spent good cash on the games.
End quote

That is both true and false. I've recently had some breakthroughs with
the BSC games, Troop II, and figured out if you run the game as a full
administrator with the Vista security turned off you can play those
games. If you run with the security running or as a standard user the
games will crash. Once I finalise my research and study on the problem I
plan to post a solution to the BSC problems in the next Audyssey mag.
I don't really like my findings so far, since you have to violate
Vista's security, but at the moment it seams the only solution to making
them run.
Cheers.

Hi Blind Guy,
Well, as I just said to Shaun in my prier post running the BSC games
isn't hopeless under Vista, but a pain in the rear to make them work.
Mostly it requires you opening yourself to security risks by disabling
some of Vista's security features.

Hi Michael,
I can certainly tell you it has nothing to do with .Net 3.0. Super Liam
was written in Visual Basic 6.0.

It
said something basically saying active x obect cold not be created.

Hi Gary,
I have considered having two seperate downloads as you mentioned. Click
here to download a version for Windows 2000 or XP. Click here to
download for Vista. However, the only sticker is Windows 2000. there are
.net 3.0 back ports for XP and Windows Server 2003 so there is
absolutely no compatibility issues with those operating systems if I
decided to go to .Net 3.0. The only os that has issues is Win 2K.

 Hi all,
I just sent a mail to
 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
 with the following:
 #newplayer
factionname: And my factionname after that
 password: Than my password
 email:
 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
That's what I type, but I'm not getting back a reply. Putting
 #end
after the email doesn't help either.
 Regards.

[Audyssey] Flight smulation game`

2007-08-28 Thread jason
Hello gamers, I was wondering if one of the game developers when they get time
can make a flight simulation game. it would be neat. however there should be
challenges like engine trouble and repairing the plane. the game should also
have turbulents, crashing plane etc. The object is to get your passengers
safely to their destination without any mechanical trouble. We can set the
routes up just like Jim kitchen's trucker game. Also I would like to have
multiple planes in the game so you can select which model jet you want to fly
and different routs so you can go to ramdomized routes instead of the same
route all the time. Plus we should have game creator menu in the game as well.
I think gamers would like to create their own planes with step by step
instructions or prompt levels, or routes etc.
It is just an idea.
your friend,
Jason

[Audyssey] Name for the glight simulation game I suggested

2007-08-28 Thread jason
Hi, everyone here is a name that I thought of for the flight simulation game I
suggested.
The name is I suggest is fly for the miles.
The reason I ask the gaming developers to give it a try, because I can annalize
software but I don't know enough programming yet.
I hope you like my idea and the name for the game.

Jason

It's not easy, you really need love aviation to be sucessful!

 are.
remember this is a mainstream game, not an accessible one.

Saying that how can a blind person fly planes in a game because he's
blind is like saying, how can a blind person play a racing game
   since
   blind people can't drive.

   Second,
   which

   Microsoft

 Hi.

Is anyone else playing the www.nationstates.net political simulation game?
If so, what region are you in and what's your nation name?

Also, can anyone recommend any other simulation style games that are
 accessible?

 Thanks
