Re: [Audyssey] Alter aeon
How do you actually go about finding areas, though? That is what confuses me. I am level 30 mage, am actually at 86 total levels. I am Sasanak on there btw, if anyone would like to group up with me sometime. I really do enjoy playing in groups more than soloing, but I would like to solo every once in a while, but as I say I have no clue where to find good levels to go so I don't get killed. Lol. Oh, and hey Dark, maybe you could do a podcast on Alter Aeon sometime. Re: [Audyssey] Alter aeon
Okay, cool! I'll do that. Thanks Dentin! That makes sense. On 12/2/13, Dennis Towne s...@xirr.com wrote: Honestly, I think one of the most important things to know about exploring areas and soloing is to aim low. If your character is level 30, try level 28 areas instead of level 30 areas. Go for areas that are a bit weaker, so it's easier and safer to explore, until you get the hang of exploring. You'll still get loads of experience, but your chances of dying are a lot lower. For actually finding areas, use the 'area' command to search for areas by level and continent, then the 'nearby' command to figure out roughly where they are. For example, the 'area 28' command lists areas between level 25 and level 31. Remember that there's a big difference between a level 30 character with 85 total levels, and a level 30 character with a hundred total levels. It's ok to be in lower level areas if you're not ready for the higher level ones. Re: [Audyssey] Chain Reaction
Hi all. Sorry for the change of subject, but what is the site where I can get that Chain Link game? I've been looking for a word game like that, and it sounds like what i might want to check out. It is an anagram game, correct? Or it is more like scrabble? Either way, I would be interested in getting a link to where I can get it. Also, I agree with the views expressed earlier in this thread. We should support the few developers who are working to provide quality games. I mean, I understand that money is tight, but it is so all around. And it's not like these games cost very much in the scheme of things, so it would not take long to save up enough money to be able to buy them properly. Especialy, considering the lack of audio game developers we are fortunate enough to have. On 4/29/13, Thomas Ward thomasward1...@gmail.com wrote: Hi Dark, Sure. Re: [Audyssey] News from Blastbay Studios, and a call for opinions
Hi Phillip. Well, now i'm curious. Lol. This sounds awesome, and i am looking forward to seeing what it is all about. Answers follow: I really do not think having the game on a CD is necessary. Much easier and faster to just download it. As to size, that doesn't matter. 300 MB is no big deal for me at all. My download speed is fairly fast, so it's all good. Regarding the manual, I think it'd be cool to have it both in the game, maybe a shorter, more condensed version, and then the whole manual in HTML format on the website. If it wouldn't be too much trouble, that is. It would just be nice to have a choice, as both the in-game and HTML manuals do have their merits. Lastly, I honestly don't really care about the cheat codes. Though, if I had to choose, I'd say it would be better to have them as unlockables in the game, without needing to pay for them. Probably more fun for people that way. Oh, and also I do hope you are able to work on Perilous Hearts after this new project is finished! I had been very much looking forward to purchasing it at some point, especially after I heard your extended demo. However, I know time is perforce a factor here. But I am very much looking forward to this new game you have up your sleeve, and as I say am very curious! Thanks for letting us put in our two cents, and I wish you the best of success with this, and all future endeavours! On 4/29/13, Thomas Ward thomasward1...@gmail.com wrote: Hi Philip, Below are the answers to your questions. 1. Would you like the ability to order the game on CD? This would cost something like 10 dollars extra including worldwide shipping. Answer: Not really. Chances are I would save the $10 in shipping costs, download the game from Blastbay Studios, and burn my own CD for less. 2. How much does the size of the game matter when it comes to the downloadable version? Is something like 300 MB too large? Answer: No, I don't think 300 MB is too large. If it was larger than a gig I might have something to say about the download size, but 300 MB is perfectly reasonable on today's Internet connections. I've downloaded mainstream games that were one and two gigs so 300 MB is small in comparison. I don't believe it should be a big problem for most of your customers from Europe and United States since most places now use high speed Internet these days. 3. In what format would you prefer to have the manual? Narrated inside the game, available in text format, or both? Answer: I think you should supply your manuals in HTML format. Besides looking more professional than plain text it makes it easier to look up information by clicking links to jump to sections or using header navigation to jump from section to section quickly. I know it takes a bit longer to prepare a manual in HTML, but I think it is much better than a plain text manual. 4. If the game contained cheat codes and you had to beat it in order to unlock them, would you want the ability to buy them for something like 5 dollars without having to earn them? This applies to other un lockable content, as well. Answer: Hmm...I think that is up to you. Personally, I don't use cheat codes much anyway so I'd be more likely to earn them through playing and beating the game than to pay $5 to cheat my way through the game. I don't hold with cheating as I generally find it ruins the experience for me personally. Hey Dark, are there any other games like Sryth out there? I assume you know waht Sryth is...basically it's a browser based fantasy type game. Not quite an rpg, but sort of. Sryth is cool, don't get me wrong, but it gets rather, well, boring, and the whole melee rating and adventure token reliance is sort of putting me off from playing it anymore. I do like that genre of game though, but I don't know of many browser based fantasy games sadly, so thought I would ask here. Re: [Audyssey] Revisiting dragon pass
Thank you, sir! Will definitely check all of those out. Funnily enough, I did listen to the podcast you did for Blind cool Tech, about the fighting fantasy games. Enjoyed it, and always meant to check the ff project out, but kinda forgot about it. Heh. I love that whitestick page! Very useful. I did not know that he had a games page too, though. Hey, um, would you mind terribly if I wrote you off list? I wanted to ask you something, but I wasn't sure if you wanted to give personal info out on the list so thought I would refrain. On 4/13/13, dark d...@xgam.org wrote: Hi Alisan. I actually know sryth very well. Back in 2004 when it was just a free game, before there was any commercial signup I was very much a fan and played endlessly, I was even 2nd on the leaderboards for a couple of years, but in 2009 I pretty much abandoned I pretty much abandoned sryth for exactly the reason you mention, it just seemed the gm was bumping up difficulty unreasonably and requiring massive donationsto perchice the higher level weapons to complete standard adventures, not to mention all the lotteries, timed events, stat grinding etc, it frankly seemed the gm just got reedy to me and his writing suffered. There are lots of online games kicking around, for more details see the games to play online page over at www.whitestick.co.uk. Many games however get a bit grindy aand are lacking in the text or have very quick battles. In particular I'd advise trying puppet nightmares, which has a fantastic battle system and a very interesting story, plus you control and take charge of pokemon like weerd surreal creatures making it also a creature game, and core exiles, a fantastic and very different story driven space adventure. That one has many stratogy elements, but also lots of sapce to explore and missions to do. Warriors 2 is also fun, especially with the random adventure system, though in that game unfortunately battles are all automatic, and I'd also recommend metroplexities, a cyberpunk style rpg game set in a distopian future. kingdom of loathing is good for comedy value, though unfortunately I've found the dayly adventure limit in that game a bit too strenuous, and while I enjoy the humour I don't find the story has me come back for more as much. I would also recommend looking at whitestick's online gamebooks page. these are interactive stories, but with full rpg mechanics, some requiring rolling of dice. In particular age of fable and those on the fighting fantasy project webiste are worth a look. hth. Hth. Beware the grue! Um, well, okay then. Here goes. Heh. Please don't take this the wrong or anything, I don't mean to sound all stalker-ish or whatever, but well, I would kind of like to get to know you better off-list. I've listened to your podcasts, as I say, and I think you and I would probably get along pretty well. I mean, you're a philosopher, and I, whilst not a philosopher per se, certainly like discussing philosophical topics occasionally, and of course audio games and suchlike. So, I was wondering if you had Facebook, or maybe even Skype. It'd be neat to have, you know, a dialogue sometime. Plus, you just sound like a cool dude. *grin* So, if you do have FB and wanna add me, do feel free. My name on there is Ceridwyn Bloodfang. I'll not put my Skype info out here, but I can send it to you off list if you'd like. If you have Skype, that is. Lol. As to the ffproject, well i like gamebooks generally, and ffproject as opposed to say the projectaon site does have the advantage of doing the stats and dice rolling for you, though it's worth learning to do this yourself since some of the books on sites like chronicles of arborell or project.aon are well worth playing. Re: [Audyssey] Anymore RPG games?
Captchas are evil...plain and simple. Blech! WE hates them, my precious! On 4/8/13, dark d...@xgam.org wrote: Hi Micol. there is a puppet nightmares forum, you might try creating an account there and doing it that way. When I created mine there was no capture (yee gods google should really! get a right royal kick up the rear for their so called accessible audio captures the scumbags). I don't believe however the forum had a similar problem. If that doesn't work, you can find a form to contact the admin of puppet nightmares on the front page of the game. hth. Beware the Grue! Hi Nicole, Not sure how to get in touch with the developer of Puppet Nightmares, but I'm sure someone here can help you create an account. Although, I will say that capcha is difficult to hear weather you are partly hearing impaired or not. Although, I can try if you want me to, and even if I can't do it I might be able to have my wife do it since she can see. Cheers!
