[Audyssey] An easy IPhone game

2014-04-27 Thread Kimberly Qualls
Hi all, I received a new Iphone for my birthday, and I have figured
out how to use most of the functions, but I still have a ways to go
before I am proficient. Is there a game (preferably free) easy game
to learn more. That's what I did to learn W8, and it worked out well.
Everyone have a happy, rest of the weekend, and thanks in advance.
Oh yes, BTW, can someone give me a link or the address of AA, so I can
install it on my new computer. I haven't played in a long time, but I
just recently got a fully functional computer. Thanks again...(Smile)

Okay, I went to the self destruct key gen and this is what it came up
with...BTW, I'm using win7
Problem with shortcut
The item 'keygen.exe.' this shortcut refers to has been moved or
changed so the shortcut will no longer work properly
Nearest match based on size, date and type
C:\Program Files (x86)\keygen.exe
Do you want to fix this shortcut to point to this target or do you
just wantto delete it? Thaen it gives me the choices of Delete, fix
it, or cancel...I tried fix it, and it says that there was an error
and the product ID does not exist...Now, from here any ideas?...Thanks
bunches for the help, I really appreciate it

launch the shortcut provided and when Windows gives you the option, Fix

Subject: [Audyssey] Updating the List Guidelines

 Hello everyone,

As much as I hate being a Nazi about the list rules and guidelines
certain posts have forced me to conclude that the guidelines need to
be amended to insure the accuracy and validity of some of the things
that get posted to the list. Certain members, for whatever reason,
continuously post false and misleading information that could be
accepted by a list member who may not know any better and thus that
information could become harmful and detrimental to the reader.
Therefore I am proposing the following guideline to be added to the
rules which we may modify and discuss before it becomes official.

Because we get new members who may or may not know about the subjects
posted to the list, and this also may include longtime members who
just don't know what is and is not correct, it is very important that
you, if at all possible, research to verify that what you are about to
post is correct information.  Incorrect information or advice on how
to fix a computer or game issue can cause damage to a list member's
computer or corrupt a game, which can cost that member money and or
headaches unnecessarily.  If a list member habitually posts obviously
faulty information due to a lack of research, they will receive a
warning.  Continuing the practice may result in a removal from the
list.  This guideline is to insure that list members do get the
correct advice or help they need, and they will also know that what
they read is from a reliable source.

Any last minute thoughts, suggestions, or comments before I add this
to the official list rules and guidelines?

 Thanks.

 Hi James,

Windows XP is a 32-bit operating system which still has 16-bit
compatibility. That is to say Dos apps should run fine on XP. Its only
newer versions of Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 that are designed
for 64-bit processors that have the problem with older 16-bit apps.

Could someone please tell me what the correct way of doing it is?

That is the spoil alert for everyone reading this now in fact. If
you are playing the shadow gate game and don't want hints, do not
read further...

Shawn, those things you mentioned were not bugs in the usual sense.
There is several degrees of seperation between an atari port of a
visually played nes game, and the audio version of the same game on
a diffrent platform in an accessible format.
There will be diffrences, and this isn't all that unusual. In the
sighted world, especially with side scroller games or action games
diffrent content will be snuck in for diffrent systems to keep the
game fresh and to give incentive to buy the game for those diffrent
 consoles.
For this game, I don't know. Nina might have omitted things out of
forgetfulness, or it might have existed in the same way as on the
atari port. Either way, those things you mentioned are not bugs.
Secondly, the rope does do as you say, but you have to be a little
more clever then the atari walkthru to figure it out. Use that sharp
mind of yours and check out everything around you, and in your
inventory, and you should be able to solve the puzzle.

As for the use and select menu choices...ironically I mentioned the
same exact thing to Ian a while back.
I guess, for the time being, the best way to remember which does
what is to think of use as useing it on yourself, or useing
something like an unlocked door, or a bridge or even a staircase.
Select is usually done when you want to use an item on some
element in a room, like a pool, or a monster, or you want to use an
item on another item, like a burning torch on an unlit torch.

Lastly, yeah, the music is retro. I think it is quaint and takes me
back to the nineties, lol. There is actually some shadow gate music
called overclocked where people take old video game music and rock
out with it, or turn it into disco, lol.

Yes, I realize that must be a problem, from the other posts I

wanted to ask you about the open source for the (office like)

other than Office to use as well...Thanks for the info and Happy

Not sure what I can say other than your mother's computer is
definitely not the norm. Not as far as my experience with Windows 7
goes.. Every copy of Windows 7 I have purchased comes with .NET 4.0
preinstalled, but I might add it doesn't show up under Programs and
Features as it is a system component. that said, there are additional
.NET updates that can be installed along side .NET 4.0 such as 3.5.1
which installs backwards compatibility libs for .NET 2.0, 3.0, and
3.5. The .NET 4.5 you speak of is simply an updated patch for .NET
4.0. As previously mentioned Windows 8 comes with .NET 5.0 by default.
That's about all I can say on the issue at this point.

  1.
Her Windows includes a subversion of .net 3.5 which seems to be called

  2.
There are two offline installers for .net 4.0, the full package and the

The same installation file for .net 4.0 I use, had to be used on her

I am not sure if this version of Windows was altered by the hardware

I actually never found it of any use until I saw someone tanking
 in it so I
decided to give it a try. I never bothered with it before because
 you can't
take it off and identify it, but it turned out to be pretty
 awesome so I'm
glad I got it in the long run. Bone shield and even bone blade
 can be useful
too, if for nothing more than the breath save, and especially
 once you get
soul bind, or whatever it's called. I have a full necroclev set
 for my
warrior, and when fully enchanted I can get my tank set well past
 470 AC. I
need to work on that a little since I saw someone with a 594 ac
 set a couple
days ago. That would just be amazing.

Who is your character on alter, by the way, if you don't mind me
 asking?

Bone armor... that thing rules, even if necro's your fifth
 class.
I built my warrior a 10 clevel set, bone armor's basically one
 of the best
  tank pieces I can find.

It's all about the equipment. In the long run, all classes are pretty
 equal,
though some take more skill and practice to play properly. Necromancer is a
great newbie class to start with, especially if you build a clev set early.
However, necromancer isn't a catch-all class. Warriors end up being really
powerful once you get a decent hit set going, as well as mages if you build
a clev set for them. Personally I would not pick cleric as a primary if you
don't intend to group. Clerics have a lot of buff/regeneration/group aimed
spells, so they're nice to have as a second or third class, but a lot of
 the
xp you get from clerics is while grouped. Thief would probably be your
 worst
class if you're new to the mud. In the long run, it's one of the safest
classes to play, but it takes a lot of understanding of how the mud works,

 Hi Kimberly,

Just for your information the 32-bit or x86 programs go in
 c:\Program Files (x86)
which is pretty standard for Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8
 64-bit systems.

As for hating computers I think that's just your inexperience talking.
Once you get to know them I'm sure you'd love them as much as I do.
You just need a good trainer to educate you on the ins and outs of how
to properly run your system. :D

That said, if you have troubles with Windows you'd probably find any
other OS just as daunting if not more so. Linux, for example, is a
great OS, but its more for power users who pretty much know what they
are doing. While the Linux developers have made lots of attempts to
make it more user friendly for the general masses its still more an OS
for power users like computer techs, programmers, network admins, and
pretty much anyone who has an advanced education in computer
technology. Not only that because there are many different brands of
Linux there are many different options to pick from such as Ubuntu
which is more for your average home PC user, to Red Hat Enterprise for
network servers, Arch Linux for developers who need to constantly keep
their apps and libraries up to date, etc. In short, it could become a
minefield for the inexperienced because there is no one size fits all
 solution.

With Windows its more an OS for the masses. PC manufacturers know
this, and that is why when you buy a new laptop from Wal-Mart, Best
Buy, or Office Depot you will get Microsoft Windows Home Basic
preinstalled because it is the easiest and generally the simplest
solution to get started with. If you can't handle Windows then many of
the alternatives like FreeBSD, Linux, whatever are way out of your
 league.

 Hi Kimberly,

Hopefully someone who is running Windows 7 can say this better than I

In Windows XP you press the start key, then p for program files and then

 something
like program files x86. So you press enter on kitchensinc to go into the
folder. Or if it runs a program that is the one where my game menu got
installed. So go to the other program files kitchensinc, press enter on
kitchensinc. Now press the control key and a to highlight the files, now
press the control key and c to copy the files. Now go to the other
kitchensinc folder and press the control key and v to paste the files
 into
 that folder.

Sorry if that sounds confusing. It really isn't once you do it.

 Hello,

Taking a break from learning the new phone upgrade and thought I'd
hunt up a game. I was wondering anyone know of any RPG Entombed type
games? I like Entombed but on my system here it's very unstable and
when it runs I run in to a lot of game bugs, items not able to be
 picked up etc.

 Thanks.

Re: [Audyssey] Infocom Archive - now on dropbox!

2012-11-20 Thread Kimberly Qualls
Hi all...I have 2 requests...First, I am looking for XBox for my 7
year old son, and have NO idea what to look for as far as games or
accessories or even what price range I'm looking for...Since, y'all
seem to know so much about games, thought I'd ask you
first...Secondly, I am looking for games to play, for myself, on my
PC...I'm using JAWS and W7...Is there anything I can play which
doesn't require a lot of downloading of extras?...As some of you know,
I am one of the profoundly technologically challenged, so it would be
great to find games which are more easily installed and such...Thanks,
and feel free to email me privately if it's easier...Happy Thanks
Giving, and remember to eat way too much...(smile)

 Hi Laura.

winfrotz will work under windows 7 and play all the infocom games, so no
worries on that score, it's just winfrotz tts that won't sinse it was based
on the 2002 version of the program and hasn't been updated for years.

Ironically though the modern winfrotz actually has! sapi support anyway,
albeit that it's a little patchy, making the older tts custom program
 somewhat redundent.

 Beware the grue!

OK, it looks like I got it to work after all.

Ibrahim, are there interpreters that work well with JAWS under Windows 7?
Last I heard, there weren't any good ones, so I'm curious.

 Thanks.

Subject: [Audyssey] Infocom Archive - now on dropbox!

 Hi Everyone.
OK, for all you Interactive Fiction nerds and for those of you who
 mightn’t
have played an IF title before, I’m delighted to enclose my Infocom
collection, a file containing over 500 megabytes of goodies including
manuals, maps, hints, solutions and other miscellaneous files, back issues

of their in house magazine, game patches, articles and so on. The games
can be played using a ZCode interpreter which i will help out in
obtaining, installing and using as well as on an IPhone, IPod or IPad with

the free Frotz download from the app store. This has been a labour of love

collecting all this stuff together, so if anyone has anything to
contribute that is Infocom related but perhaps not included here, please
let me know and I’ll do my best to source it, lets make this thing as
complete an archive as we possibly can. Link follows and I hope you all
 enjoy what is on offer.
 https://www.dropbox.com/s/8rl99dbd2rnxiid/Infocom%20Collection.zip
 All the best, Ibrahim.

Subject: [Audyssey] Mush z alter aeon adapter's links dead

Well, I went back to the alter aeon site and started clicking around the
mush z page of that site, looking to see if I could get in contact with
 the
guy oriel, or whatever his name is. Only the links that allow download
 of
the mush z client and the patch that was created in 2011 are available
 for
download. All other links for his plugins give me a whoah that didn't
 go
very well page, or whatever it is now.

So, I guess unless you already have the correct setup for the mush z
 client,

you are stuck using another client. As a Window Eyes user, mush z was
 the
one that everyone pointed me to.

So, here's the thing, are their any other sites out there that have
 clients
that will self voice the client's text in the output window, or do I
 have
to do everything mouse pointer searching like when I use the infocom text
adventures and the other .z and tads games?

 Thanks

 Keith
