[Audyssey] Comparisons between smugglers 3 and the add on

2008-01-16 Thread Darren Harris
Wow I think it's harder!! Don't take missions on straight away because
you'll get mined!! It really is far more difficult now!! Anybody know
where you can get those mines from? They can blow up a fighter with 1
hit!!!

You can buy mines pretty much anywhere. They'll take up five cargo spaces
each so a fighter can only hold one at a time. Once you're in a bigger ship,
you can get supermines which will deal fifty points of damage if they hit. I
can't wait to get a ship other than the paladin which was the only capital
ship I could manage to get. Trading's not my strong suit.

That's weird. I can't see them in either the trade menu or in the
equipment area.

2008-01-16 Thread Michael Feir
When you go to buy equipment, go down to the small cargo bay. Next, tab
over to the list on the right and that's the list of upgrades which a small
cargo bay can handle. You tab between the list of equipment on your ship and
the list of improvements you can get for whatever equipment onboard your
ship is highlighted. When you've got the small cargo bay selected, tabbing
will put you in a list with small cargo bay 2 and 3 upgrades, a small
passenger cabin which you can't get if you're on a federation world, a mine,
and light armour. I find mines to be more worth-while than the armour
although it can be helpful to have the extra five points grace before being
blown up.

Re: [Audyssey] Comparisons between smugglers 3 and the add on

2008-01-16 Thread Dark
their under the cargo bay section.

I didn't know they took up five cargo spaces, I thought they took up the
lot.

Also under that section is light armour, but i'd advise against that, while
it lets you take more damage, it has a chance of destroying your cargo space
which is bad.

The usual way I win combats against any very small ship, - and any small
ship accept the hornit which always seems to get me, is to launch a brute
missile II at the start of combat, which will either hit them, or take up
their turns with ecm while I lambast them with the phaser cannon S. I tried
the L version, but it just missed too much to work properly.

Oh btw, I've discovered a rather nasty cheating bug in the game. If you just
press alt F4 on the combat screen it will instantly exit and bring you back
to space. Not only is this the world's best escape method, but also
(weerdly), if you do it in an ambush mission you'll actually get creddit for
carrying out the mission, though obviously you won't get the fame associated
with destroying the ship.

I found this when I accidently attacked a ship I shouldn't have and was
trying to exit, imho it's a rather major cheat.

Beware the Grue1

dark.
