Hi Aleeha,
What device are you using to read the site?
We've had some issues with notetakers, especially brailleNotes, because of
their ancient web browsers.

Re: [Audyssey] announcing the audiogames archive

2016-09-29 Thread dark

Hi Z.
Firstly, if you give an idea of what sort of games your interested in, then
perhaps people can make suggestions, though of course there is a lot to find
out about and it's always great exporing and trying things out yourself..

Well as Michael said there is www.audiogames.nett. It has descriptions of
over 570 accessible games in audio, and text, you can also use the "Search
games" link on the front page to do things like search for games of a given
genre or from a given developer. The forum is also a good place to ask about
accessible games, indeed along with this mailing list it's the major place
on the internet for accessible games discussion.

There is also the huge list of "Fantastic games and where to find them" over
at www.pcsgames.net. This is a massive list of websites with descriptions.

The 7-128 games team have a list of top websites for gamers who are blind,
which is maintained every year, check
http://www.7128.com/top25/topsitesblind.html to see it.
there are then several pages over on www.whitestick.co.uk which can be very
useful, such as "games to play online" and games to play offline.

If you know what game your looking for and just want the setup file, a lot
of older games are hosted over at http://www.applevis.com/ which is very
awesome, though note that that site is more about the hosting than the
explanations for most of their games (for explanations try audiogames.net or
pcsgames).

then if your an Ios user, there is http://www.applevis.com/ which has
anything and everything to do with Ios games, and indeed games for the mac
too.

hth.

At long last, the audiogames archive is live and ready for use.

There are currently titles from 39 different developers available for
download, with a total archive size of about 12.7gb.

The archive also hosts mods, soundpacks, maps, and other expansions for
games, though the selection of these is slightly limited at the moment.

In addition, wherever possible links to developer's sites and downloads
have also been included, meaning that you can use the archive as a way to

The archive is at (read the below notes before you visit though):

The archive is very much in its testing phase at the moment.

cannot open these.

Hi Dark,
7Zip is not installed in windows by default, which is why the site is so
careful to tell users they'll need to download it.
Windows provides native support for .zip files but not for .7z, which tend
to provide better compression than zip.

Hi.

Really great your not doing the torrent route, since your absolutely correct
the option would be inconvenient for a lot of people, and 7zip is at least
very easy to use, indeed you might want to add to the faq that people can
use 7zip by just going to the context menu in windows explorer and using the
"extract here" option.

I'm not sure if a download manager will work, but you should be able to
brows file indices and download that way.
I don't have any interest in trying to set up a torrent for the archive,
because of the software and complexity requirements.
It was actually brought up during our server issues, and turned down for the
reason that if we require advanced software knowledge like that, then a lot
of people are likely going to be put off by it.
I'm alright with requiring 7-zip because of its ease of use and the amount
of storage space I've saved, but its still probably costing us some
visitors.

Hi all,

As some of you may already know, over the past year or so I've been

At long last, the audiogames archive is live and ready for use.

There are currently titles from 39 different developers available for
download, with a total archive size of about 12.7gb.

The archive also hosts mods, soundpacks, maps, and other expansions for
games, though the selection of these is slightly limited at the moment.

In addition, wherever possible links to developer's sites and downloads
have also been included, meaning that you can use the archive as a way to
look up a developer's website or a particular game's info.

The archive is at (read the below notes before you visit though):

The faq and about the archive section is at:

Notes:

The archive is very much in its testing phase at the moment.

If you notice anything amiss (links not working, broken installers,

If you have some content you don't see listed and would like to help us
get it posted, please also get in touch. This especially applies to

Finally, you should make sure that you have a file archiver, preferably
7zip, installed before you download games. Many of the files on the site
have been compressed or repackaged as 7z archives, and standard windows
cannot open these.

I sincerely hope this helps all of you who have posted messages looking

Hi.

Really great your not doing the torrent route, since your absolutely correct
the option would be inconvenient for a lot of people, and 7zip is at least
very easy to use, indeed you might want to add to the faq that people can
use 7zip by just going to the context menu in windows explorer and using the
"extract here" option.

All the best,

At long last, the audiogames archive is live and ready for use.

There are currently titles from 39 different developers available
for download, with a total archive size of about 12.7gb.

The archive also hosts mods, soundpacks, maps, and other expansions
for games, though the selection of these is slightly limited at the moment.

In addition, wherever possible links to developer's sites and
downloads have also been included, meaning that you can use the
archive as a way to look up a developer's website or a particular game's info.

The archive is at (read the below notes before you visit though):

www.agarchive.net

The faq and about the archive section is at:

www.agarchive.net/pages/faq.html

Notes:

The archive is very much in its testing phase at the moment.

If you notice anything amiss (links not working, broken installers,
typos, etc) lease take a look at the contact page, and get in touch.

If you have some content you don't see listed and would like to
help us get it posted, please also get in touch. This especially
applies to things like adventure at c stages and top speed cars.

Finally, you should make sure that you have a file archiver,
preferably 7zip, installed before you download games. Many of the
files on the site have been compressed or repackaged as 7z
archives, and standard windows cannot open these.

I sincerely hope this helps all of you who have posted messages
looking for games recently.

Enjoy the archive, and happy gaming!

Hi John,

Would you care to send the link again? I thought I saved it, but I
might have deleted it when I thought the archive would have to switch
sites/servers. I'm curious to take a look through and see what kind
of things are available, and thanks for doing all the work of
collecting and posting these games for us.

2016-09-02 Thread john
There's nothing that I'm directly aware of.
The issue likely stems from the fact that the apex is running version 6 of
internet explorer, and pretty much all websites refuse to acknowledge
anything under 9.
I'll get in touch with my host and see if there's anything that can be done
on the server end, but I'd highly recommend you just use a computer to view
the site if possible (there's no apex compatible games available from the
archive).
If the problem persists, can you contact webs...@agarchive.net, so we can
work on this without cluttering the list?

Hi all,

As some of you may already know, over the past year or so I've
been
working on developing a central website to host old and
abandoned games.

At long last, the audiogames archive is live and ready for use.

There are currently titles from 39 different developers
available for
download, with a total archive size of about 12.7gb.

The archive also hosts mods, soundpacks, maps, and other
expansions for
games, though the selection of these is slightly limited at the
moment.

In addition, wherever possible links to developer's sites and
downloads
have also been included, meaning that you can use the archive as
a way to
look up a developer's website or a particular game's info.

The archive is at (read the below notes before you visit
though):

www.agarchive.net

The faq and about the archive section is at:

www.agarchive.net/pages/faq.html

Notes:

The archive is very much in its testing phase at the moment.

If you notice anything amiss (links not working, broken
installers, typos,
etc) lease take a look at the contact page, and get in touch.

If you have some content you don't see listed and would like to
help us
get it posted, please also get in touch. This especially
applies to things
like adventure at c stages and top speed cars.

Finally, you should make sure that you have a file archiver,
preferably
7zip, installed before you download games. Many of the files on
the site
have been compressed or repackaged as 7z archives, and standard
windows
cannot open these.

I sincerely hope this helps all of you who have posted messages
looking
for games recently.

Enjoy the archive, and happy gaming!

Ah john I see the problem.

When I went to the listed homepage for mudsplat it didn't workk, however

was able to track back to the homepage and repost the new link. I suspect

My apex is throwing some 403 errors at random points.
Other than that, everything is just standard links, so you should be able to
pull them just fine.

Re: [Audyssey] announcing the audiogames archive

2016-09-01 Thread dark

Hi John.

Hosting will be helpful, I also really like your summaries of developer's
histories, it will be handy to add those for developers like Bsc and
Bavisoft even if we can't officially add the games.

Btw, sorry if you already saw my reply to your topic on audiogames.net, but
mudsplat and LAst crusade actually still have websites. if you go to their
game pages on the database, you'll find them. That might help you get more
info about the games.

All the best,

Dark.

Hi Dark,
That's exactly what the archive's here for; we're more than happy to put up
whatever files we can get a hold of.
Trolling audiogames.net for dropbox links was hugely helpful when putting
all of this together, and I'm certain there were a bunch that I didn't see,
so I'll look forward to adding more games in the future.

Hi John.

I'll look this over, and indeed it might be a great resource for
audiogames.net since we're always looking for hosting for older titles.

[Audyssey] announcing the audiogames archive

2016-08-31 Thread john
Hi all,

As some of you may already know, over the past year or so I've been working on
developing a central website to host old and abandoned games.

At long last, the audiogames archive is live and ready for use.

There are currently titles from 39 different developers available for download,
with a total archive size of about 12.7gb.

The archive also hosts mods, soundpacks, maps, and other expansions for games,
though the selection of these is slightly limited at the moment.

In addition, wherever possible links to developer's sites and downloads have
also been included, meaning that you can use the archive as a way to look up a
developer's website or a particular game's info.

The archive is at (read the below notes before you visit though):

www.agarchive.net

The faq and about the archive section is at:

www.agarchive.net/pages/faq.html

Notes:

The archive is very much in its testing phase at the moment.

If you notice anything amiss (links not working, broken installers, typos, etc)
lease take a look at the contact page, and get in touch.

If you have some content you don't see listed and would like to help us get it
posted, please also get in touch. This especially applies to things like
adventure at c stages and top speed cars.

Finally, you should make sure that you have a file archiver, preferably 7zip,
installed before you download games. Many of the files on the site have been
compressed or repackaged as 7z archives, and standard windows cannot open these.

I sincerely hope this helps all of you who have posted messages looking for
games recently.

Enjoy the archive, and happy gaming!
