Hi Thomas,
What would be fun for you to develop for young blind kids is a game I used
to play, my mom had to read the screen, but it was called Maths Blaster.
There were different Maths puzzles, multiply, add, subtract, divide,
rounding off, fractions, etc, but the fun part was also the games.
Hi, Lisa it's Jason I hope you are having a good new year, and I hope

Hi,
Yeah, you can usually find them on ebay.com. As Raul stated though they
are collecters items so they go for quite a bit of cash if they are in
good condition.

Hello.
Funny enough, about three years ago, I created a computer version of the
classic speak n math, including capturing all the classic sounds from an
actual speakNMath. Unfortunately, I was just learning C Sharp language, and
I got as far as creating a few levels of solve it, and number
I had both. The most vivid memories I have of them were the different tones
they made, and the way they'd start screaming at you when the batteries
started to die. But i don't believe there are any computer versions or, at
the very least, none that are accessible.

I remember the sounds of those things. Of course i had one of the Speak
Spells that actually had the carrying handles and the different voice. It
wasn't as cool as the other one. It didn't have the Letter Stumper game and
the voice wasn't as cool.
Time is an illusion, lunchtime doubly so.
I used to purposely run the batteries flat just for this reason.
It would speed up like a tape on fast forward, then it'd make these
funny bubbling noises, and sometimes it would say angel, angel, angel
over and over again. Or it would sometimes just freeze, and then
make these noises like tin
there's a speak and spell emulator lerking somewhere on the net.
I'm not sure where however.

ok. some googling brought this up.

It's an emulator made in vb6 released around 1999 or so. I used to have
this one, and it was loads of fun.

Mine never did that. It just started screaming at you once the batteries got
to a certain point. Or, if you turned it on without a module in it it would
just start making these really weird noises instead of giving you a word to
spell. I've also heard of them just all of a sudden picking a
The only thing missing is the low battery emulation. heheheh

Hi,
Well, I owned a couple of the Speak and Spells and both did extremely
different and weird things when the batteries were low. It was down
right funny if you ask me when it started going weird.

Hi Lisa,
Well, I may finish the speakNMath project, but no guarantees. At least I
still have all the recorded sounds backed up to disc. I remember it took me
two hours until I got the darn thing to say the number 13! grin
At any rate, I may finish the project, just for kicks.

Hi Lisa,
I am not sure. My gues is probably so. After all I was in first grade at

we were talking about Speak and Spells which were the rave in the mid
80's or so.
Though, I think a program based on a Speak and Spell should

Hi Lisa,
that is hard to say. I don't know if they were available outside the
USA, but I know how I got mine. There is the Cleveland Sight Center
which services Northern Ohio, and I believe my parents got it through
them several years ago when the Speak and Spells and Speak and Maths

Hi Lisa,
Actually, I think an accessible speak N Spell game is a good idea. It is
a pretty easy thing to make so I probably wouldn't even charge for that
kind of game. Basically, all it does is checks through a dictionary word
list at random and tests if the word you typed matches the one it
