HI, confirmed. As of this writing both test server and 2.8 servers are down. According to audio games, the servers went down over night. NO word from Aprone yet on what is up. But have no fear, it will be back up when, and only when, it is ready. HI, Currently, the main server is running version 2.8. There is a test server running version 2.9. Anything you do on one does not reflect on the other. But when it is all said and done, the test server and everything will go way. The test server is just that,for testing new things and ideas for the next version. So what you do on 2.8 is what counts and may or may not carry forward to the next version. As for weather causing the servers to be down I don't think so. NO bad weather that I know about in his area. Plus his skype is still up. So me thinks he is doing some major rewriting or something that required him to bring the servers down. I can wait. Hello There was a message sent while the server was up saying that some updates needed to be installed on aprone's machine and it needed to be rebooted. Perhaps something broke during the update process. I think it's a shame, am having withdrawlsimptoms, but feel sorry for poor Aprone too, it must be driving him mad having his laptop crash like that. Hi, I guess this is more aimed at Jeremy, but since I don’t seem to have his email, I figured I'd send it here. I don't know the specifics of the server, but if it would work under linux, I'd be willing to let him use my VPS that I have. I actually have a couple. That way he'd have the advantage of a standard Gigabit connection, plus the processing power of the server (currently something like 4 quad cores about 2.7 or so GHZ each core). Oh dear, I wonder why it's doing that, maybe the new updates of windows clashes with the server or something, if I could help I would. Maybe it's some small glitch in the swamp server code that needs fixing, I'll keep everything crossed for poor Aprone. I love the game and am missing it like crazy, but I'm worried about Aprone too, there's nothing worse than something you've worked on or really need crashing and refusing to work. Once again I apologize for being as quick as possible and then seeming to vanish again. I used to get a ton of messages on a normal day, so you can only imagine what it's like when 2000 swamp players from around the world think I either don't know the server is down, think there's just an update and want to ask questions about it, or are trying to understand why I don't just do this and this to start Swamp up again. ROFL, it's a tad bit overwhelming, but I'm sure it will calm down as word spreads. The big thing is that people don't know what's already been tried, and it takes a while to tell them if their suggestion has already been tried. :P I am still super behind on my emails but I have noticed some titled Donation received in there. Every theory that pops into my head is plagued with this 1 gaping hole... the software ran perfect on 1 computer but fails on all the rest. HI, the server appears to be up for now. He is still working on it. There is a xbit of a lag issue. mesages buffer. So you will need to somehow acces the server for messages to come thru. This can be done by either pressing the shift slash keys, making a kill, or entering some type of system command. Such as slash stats, rolling the dice, or something similar. If you haven't done so, you will need an updated 2.8 version. Go to the website, or the downloand link is below: www.kaldobsky.com/audiogames/Swamp.zip When the game first starts, you might not connect immediately. Press the shift slash key to connect. But be careful. I spawned on the west side of the park, near the creek. Had to make my way back to the sz. So be ready in case you do not spawn at the sz. After maybe 10, 50, or even over a hundred messages have been sent using Senddata, they will all suddenly flood through like hair stuck in a pipe. So the clients get nothing for several minutes and then are bombarded by a sudden rush of hundreds of messages. After the sudden rush, messages will go back to getting stuck somewhere between VB calling SendData and the actual messages being sent. end quote. Sorry about the server being down. I woke up to my cat sleeping on my keyboard. She had closed the server, rearranged files, sent out some skype messages, and opened about 50 programs. If you got any random skype messages from Me this morning, please ignore them. I haven't gone crazy and it wasn't actually me sending out random strings of letters to people. She even managed to send out 1 file transfer! I have no earthly idea how she did that! It took a while but I got everything closed that she had opened. I'm just glad she hadn't done more damage than she actually did since the Swamp server was running in code form. It was minimized and that seemed to have protected it from the Kitty rampage of random keystrokes! Hopefully people didn't lose anything during the sudden server crash. It was minimized and that seemed to have protected it from the Kitty rampage of random keystrokes! Hopefully people didn't lose anything during the sudden server crash. A few people have said that kaldobsky.com is not showing up for them. I think my webhost is doing a bit of work on some of its servers. When kaldobsky.com is down you won't be able to access the server even though it is up and running and currently has 38 players in it. I guess keep checking the site until it comes back up. I haven't been able to get on the server either, but I have been playing with the custom maps. I have been practicing very as ways to get monsters from far distances. I did look for the last man standing admission, but it is not in my custom maps folder. I think I saw something about that on the audio games.net for him.
